    ok...
how to get steam pressure back in our left wand...
    the right side is perfect....
the left side is slower than it used to be....how do we unblock it, pipe cleaner? doesnt it just push the crap up the pipe?

    hey massimo
IF the brew guage is correct (and I think you can only check that with a pf guage (maybe ask the coffee supplier to bring one round to have a quick check while s/hes there).
if it IS right, then during the shot you shouldnt be getting 11bar, and if you are then that would very likeely give you some ugly shots.
get a good tamper for the cafe mate, its a small investment.
memory - good for certain things, not always the most important things....

    Re: Linea

brought in my Espro tonight, used a more coarse grind & really packed it in. not sure if its the right thing to do, but was delicious as a doppio. no channeling at all.
hits 11bar when extracting, then back to 9 resting. is this ok?
Roknee your photographic memory amazes me....no Incasa anymore, have a lightweight aluminium flat base tamper now. nice but gets damaged easily.
I bring in the espro to calibrate staff and myself once in a while

    Re: Linea

I had a Pullman tamper matched to a genuine LM double basket at one time (now both at home with another CS member)
I found out on advice that the minimum grind by grams needed is 18 gr & up to 21 gr depending on the clearance of the group head filter screen

So 18 grams should be your starting point

If Greg he sees this post he will probably confirm this as
I recall from an old post that LM baskets are just under 58mm ??

    Re: Linea

yeah if youre still using that old tamper that i think is the incasa one with the convex bottom, then getting your hands on a tamper that is better (and that wont be hard) will make you smile more guaranteed

hmmm....9 bar. Think it might be a higher, will double check.
Your dosing method much like ive been doing, will bring in another tamper as the shop one is a little battered.
will ask for new baskets i think, i will post a pic. come down when in the area if you can

    send us a pic, massimo

i think baskests are a little wider than 58mm, maybe 58.2 or 58.3
dont think ive seen LM stamped on them either. send us a photo and maybe we can tell...

also re channeling, maybe youre not quite dosing high enough. these baskets hold a fair bit more than the old faithful you were used to. when i was on a LM, i was dosing halfway, collapsing once, dosing to a mound, collapsing then distributing striking off and tamping.

dosing down wont necesarily give u channeled shots but it might contribute.

but enjoy your new baby all the same.

oh and i was just thinking, have a look at brew pressure when pulling shots. assuming the gauge is accurate, make sure youre not running much above 9bar obviously...

    Re: Linea

The answer is no, but I can tell a LM basket by eye because I have not seen many machines with the baskets they ship with. Just buy LM baskets from coffee parts.

    Here is a good photo

LM baskets are very straight sided compared to others.

    Linea

Got a refurbed Linea at work. Lovely machine compared to our San Marino we had.

Few things, i noticed the baskets we got with the machine are very average in quality. Are original Marzocco baskets stamped with their name? Because these have no name. The group of holes in the basket seem to be stamped off centre.
Ive noticed i get chanelling in my pucks, not sure weather its my dosing or the dodgy baskets. Or both...Never got channels in the San Marino.
Dose by eye, tap down/settle coffee in basket, level off with finger tamp evenly.
Are Marzocco baskets exactly 58mm wide?
Working...
