AM wouldnt you think anti vac would be standard on this machine?

mine has an anti vac too, it may or may not work, as i bleed it off. will have to give mine a test.

Rider yours may have failed or maybe scaled up. new ones may be about $14 plus delivery if needed from coffeeparts

not sure how you get around "false" pressure on first warm up if you use a timer?

anyone else got an easy solution ? I guess you could just leave the steam open and the boiler would  "auto fill" if it needed to but thats a risk i would not take with mine. i might roll over and go back to sleep....

maybe put a old kettle whistle on the steam arm, when it starts screaming you know you have to get up....... lol

go get some really fresh beans, it will make a difference on your espresso.
Anti Vac valve... Coffee parts has them and many Sponsors fit them to their systems as part of a standard fit out or option.

the pressure build up while heating is turning off the machine via the pessurstat. i leave my steam wand open to i hear a bit of steam when i first turn mine on.

this allows it to fill and heat up without pressure in the boiler, once i hear a little steam spurt / puff i turn the steam to OFF and it continues to heat up correctly

you will need to "reprogram the buttons again to do the 1 second flush as thats what someone had them programmed to do.

take some pictures and show us the machine

Thank you all for your replies. The machine is going well, with just one fault. When I turn it on it sometimes does not fully heat up, but the boiler has pressure. I purge the pressure out via the steam wand and then it starts heating up again to operational temp. I have it on a timer so it is warm when I wake up but two mornings so far it has had this premature pressure problem.

Eric76 - I dont have the manual for it but did find some info via the link posted by Lozzo - thanks Lozzo. The info I found is an expanded parts diagram. Should be handy for ordering replacement screens and o-rings for the group.

Maheel - I think you are right about the flushing on the doubles buttons. I found a bit about re-programming by holding in the * button for 5 secs and then setting run times on the buttons but would not know how to get it back to flush.

The coffee is nice and the frothed milk is a lot of fun to create. My morning heart starter is a straight espresso now whilst I get the latte on the way for my woman (:>

    Cheers

    Hi Rider

do you think they have set the button *2s as rinse button? to rinse the group head of coffee grinds? sounds logical and not a bad idea.

You could reprogram them to do other pours as well. A manual or information on that would no be hard to get. Check the manufactures website or maybe someone here will have one.

plenty more info on this site as well

as others have said supermarket coffee is nothing great, good for you to have a go with but will not produce great coffee.

    good luck

    Hi Rider,
Welcome to CS.  Quite a task youre taking on there.  A reputable course with a site sponsor will be the best $200(ish) you ever spend.  Youll start this venture much further up the learning curve than you are now.  The value of this can not be understated.

Button panel: A CS search for words such a volumetric and program will answer your question.  For model specific info, search online for a manual for your machine (or open & read the one that came with yours! - if thats the case).  Use the search tab (not the window in the top right corner) so you can expand the search beyond the one week default.

Supermarket coffee:  No point searching for this as the flood of replies will overwhelm you.  Not one of them will be positive.  Poor quality coffee will lead to additional problems that will hinder...nay retard the learning process thus, your progress.  Buy some quality roasted coffee and use that.  Even better, buy some (quality roasted) coffee from a supplier that sells the finished product.  That way, you can know what it can/should taste like and develop a target to aim for.

    Best of luck!

I am a coffee making virgin - what am I doing here?

Hi, I am rider and I have never pulled a shot before. I have in mind a business that involves coffee so I have endeavored to learn whether I could do the coffee side of things and whether I enjoy it.  I did some research and found out about burr grinders and why they are necessary and then found out what the grinders cost! I have now purchased a used Bezzera 2 group ex-commercial 3000 MP with a Bezzera grinder and have just fired up the espresso machine. I have 3 of the portafilters, with 2 different sized coffee holders and a blind. The steamer seems to work as does running straight water or using the blind to flush.

It is an auto job, with a control panel for each group. That works strange though, as it has 5 options left to right, being:
    - 1/2 cup single - works ok, runs for a while and turns off
    - 1/2 cup single * 2 - press button and machine pulses on for half a second then off
    - full cup single - works - runs for longer than 1/2 cup single (which must be good)
    - full cup * 2 - does the pulse thing
    - * key - press once to start pump running and once to turn off

Is there some way of operating this that I dont understand? I have some supermarket beans on the way and cant wait to grind them and try making a cap. The excitement!

    Thanks for your help.
Working...
