  • The old chestnut- boiler insulation!

Im thinking of insulating the boiler on my Faema Due S- it gets so hot even in winter that milk jugs can be almost too hot to handle.
I used ceramic fibre paper on an old Bezzera in the past but found that messy and Im not sure I didnt breathe in some of the nasty fibres.
Im thinking of following up a link of Mals about fibreglass batts and cloth but was wondering if any one had other ideas including silicone foam etc and any possible suppliers.
    Any help appreciated, thanks
    Brett

I used Armoflex HT on mine mate - safe and easy to work with...and result is that the element only cycles in about half of what it did before - say it used to cycle in every 1.5 mins now its out to about twice that.

        Cheers

Ok - stop watch this time....7 mins 47 seconds before pressurestat cuts in...then 55 seconds of boiling before it cuts out again....those times probably reflect the difference in boiler size between the FAEMA and the FM...ie Paolos figures show longer out time (thermally efficient larger water volume - 13 odd l boiler versus 11 for the FAEMA - or perhaps that my lagging does not fit quite like a glove like Paolos per his photos!!!).

So in seconds mine is...off time 450 odd seconds followed by 55 seconds on time. The off time is about half the length of what it used to be pre-lagging.

          Cheers
