  • Hissing noise from Junior

    Hi All

I have a La Cimbali Junior D that has just started to make soft hissing noises quite regularly - definintely sounds like pressure escaping from somewhere. I have had the covers off but cannot see anything or localise the noise particularly, other than it away from the front of the boiler. Any ideas what to look for/how to test etc?

    Cheers

    Re: Hissing noise from Junior

what about the anti vac valve on top of boiler?

give it a bit of a press to see if it "cures it" careful but as hot steam will hiss out. (i use a wooden spoon to push mine sometimes)

ps i am assuming it is not the overpressure relief and your boiler is stable at 1.XX bars.....

Hmmm - good questions....  I dont think that it is coming from the boiler - it is too far forward for that.  I dont know where the pressure relief valve is (never been able to source the right model manual  ) The pressure reads 1.2 bar after the heating cycle, slowly drops to about 1, then heats again.  This being my first "real" machine I am not sure if this is normal or not  :-?  It never seems to get above 1.2 even when pulling a shot.......

The gauge on Junior is the pressure in the boiler, not the pump pressure.

The hissing is most likely the anti-vacuum valve as maheel previously stated.

That is correct and normal pressure
          Also correct ON/OFF cycle routine

Are you sure its not water boiling inside the boiler when it cycles on again that is making that noise ?
