Hi Sentry, welcome to the forum.

Unusual start, giving etiquette advice on an 8 year old thread Manta hasn't been seen for 8 years, so probably wont reply. Would personally consider it ancient history.

The search box is on the bottom right of the green header box

Bit harsh on old Manta there ...Isn't that why we're all here? Help each other out??

Manta, if you check up a few posts, you will see an offer by (I think it was ) Tiki. Maybe if you asked him for the PDF he scanned. And don't worry, I have no idea what a CS Search is either (just joined this group and 'am learning as well). Hopefully I'll be cut some slack as I learn ??

Re: the supply lead getting hot ... it appears to be a silicone lead (floppy) that has been in use for the last ten years obviously without any issues.

I have used silicone before to make exhaust manifold gaskets which get really hot, so again .. I think Ill just suck it & see.
Si does not make heat... It can act as an insulator...

As per BF... Sounds like teh main cable is under rated and or your got a heavy load...

Get it de tuned or a better lead ASAP.. Regardless of how long someone else used it...

The next time, could be ONE too many....

    Hey java scripter,

I have the same machine. Making 220 V out of 380 is easily. I have also an original book which went when those machine were sold years ago. Mine is from 2000 an in a perfect state. I will try to scan the booklet and if you send me your email adress I can mail it to you as a pdf file. The machines are easy to overhaul by yuorself if necessary. All parts are available in the market.

    cheers from Holland

    Thanks for the replies.

There are wiring schematics on the inside of each side panel ... Im just not very good at deciphering them! I think I will leave it to my electrician mate next visit.

My plan is really just to de-tune the machine to match its capabilities to the meagre demands I am making of it.

    Thanks for your replies.

    Cheers,

    Hi,

    Nice looking machine

just depowered my Izzo from 4500 down to 3000W and it was as simple as removing the CORRECT link of wire. From most of what I have seen commercial machines normally seem to run 3 elements and the only thing affected will be the recovery time under heavy usage (shouldnt be a problem at home).

A good electrician should be able sort it out for you and if your supply lead is getting that hot sounds like it needs to be heavier cable too. 4mm squared should do you but if it is only 2.5 then get it upgraded too. Either that or where in Oz are you there may be a snob nearby that can help you out?

Take a look on the inside of the left side panel. Cimbali typically puts a wiring schematic of the machine there.

    la cimbali m21 premium

    Hi coffee people!
My first post here although I have been browsing for some time.
I have been using a rancilio sylvia + rocky for a few years at home and while I am happy to wrap my left arm around the machine to hold it down while I tighten the group handle my wife is not.

We recently sold a cafe (boema classic 2 group manual + lavazza) and have missed having a full commercial machine to satisy our need for coffee.

To this end I have purchased a used 1998 la cimbali m21 premium & installed it at home (pressure limiting valve, water softener & 20 amp outlet). Pic attached.

The machine is in great condition & makes great shots however, the supply lead gets a bit hot (around 70 degrees celsius) when warming up from a cold start.

    My question is as follows:

I am aware that some cimbali machines have a choice of 2 or 3 elements that can be enabled for different needs. This machine has three separate elements combined into one unit and I am guessing they draw 1500 watts each. Does anyone know whether this arrangement allows for say one of the elements to be disconnected thus making it a 3000 watt machine rather than a 4500 watt machine and if possible, is this going to adversely affect the operation of the machine?

Also, I havent been able to find any info specific to the m21 premium.
Is this an odd model? A manual would be handy.

    Thanx in advance.

Working...
