    Gday Ray....

Probably the only other thing worth mentioning, if changing one pump for a different make, is to ensure that the motor rotation is correct for the replacement unit. Theres no guarantee that theyll be the same and running a brand new pump in reverse for a short time isnt going to do it much good - as you can imagine....

I would imagine that the pressure relief spring / valve would be correct, i am getting it from one of the coffee snobs site sponsors.
Is it cool to give their name out here?

Re: Are rotoflow and procon interchangeable

If it is a new Procon with the correct pressure spring in the releif valve (important) then $149 is a great deal as I think Roehlen Indistries (Aussie Procon Importer) were charging a touch over $200 for them a year or so back.

Chances are that a rebuild kit and bearing will be $90-100 if they are the same as the Procon pricing so new at that is a better option.

Its a ring grip type and Im looking at a ring grip in the procon as well, I couldnt find a rebuild kit anywhere, the internal shaft is 11mm and damn near impossible to get bearings and seals for, most if not all parts are 10mm id, the local cbc bearing bloke was gobsmacked with the 11mm dia, the other alternative was to turn the shaft down but then i can get a new procon for $149 aussie out of sydney, so I guess logistics just takes over and common sense prevails, thanks for the info regarding compatibility, I appreciate it.

Why dont you look at putting a rebuild kit into the current pump or even get a changeover one? As these pumps are fairly commonly used in the beverage industry as carbonater pumps as well as for Espresso pumps these options are available as well.

Also what model is the existing pump a 3 bolt or a ring grip one might help ?

Short answer is yes they are interchangeable.

Explanation is, as long as the coupling is the same and ofcourse it will be because they are both made for the same purpose.

I find it hard to believe you can get a new procon for $150.00. Even the exchange procons (where you send them a seized pump and they fit new inards into the old body) is more than that to the trade, BEFORE you add an Espresso Post bag to get it to you.

If someone is selling for no profit, good for you, otherwise....beware.... and I would never buy a second hand water pump.

    Are rotoflow and procon interchangeable

Can any one tell me if roto flow and procon machine pumps are interchangeable, my friends machine has a seized rotoflow in it which i have never heard of but retails for approx $220 and the procon which is more commonly known to me is retailing for $150 which i find quite surprising, so I am left with the obvious question, although they look almost identical, will the procon fit in the rotoflows place?
