Re: ECM Michelangelo
nice pick up
i would go the 5 sec backflush not 15
maybe the anti vac is sticking giving the false pressure, you could remove it and give it a clean but they are about $12 new at CoffeeParts
take the top off when cold (unplugged) and see f the antivac valve is stuck in the up position, if you give it a poke it might drop back down but might stick again next time. i think you can order a teflon one that might last longer ?

ECM Michelangelo
Hi guys,
I picked up a second hand ECM Michelangelo 2 group yesterday and after playing with it well into last night Ive got two questions Im hoping to get a hand with.
Q1: the guy I bought this off showed me his maintenance routine. This involved back flushing each group for 15 seconds, until the front readout says Alarm meter flow gr x which feels very wrong to me. Ive not been able to find any reason for such a long backflush and have taken it back to a more pump friendly 5 second flush as the pumps at full pressure by 2 seconds. Would anyone else be worried by triggering an alarm 5 times per backflush? Is there any reason for such a long flush for this machine - Ive not been able to find any info online to support it.
Q2: Ive come from a lever machine and am used to releasing false pressure and was surprised when I found that upon going info my first steam with this machine, the pressure died and had to be built back up. Im now opening the steam valve for a good few secs once it reaches pressure to let it drop and build back up again before pulling shots, but that doesnt sound like a standard move to me for an HX machine. As you can imagine its definitely no drama to do this but Im wondering if this is the norm, or if anyones aware of this being a problem and what the cause might be.
Overall Im really happy with the machine - its pretty compact which is good for my smallish kitchen, pulls really nice shots (not as much body as my La Pavoni but Im confident...) and has more steam than Ill ever need.
Thanks for your time, I look forward to your thoughts.
Cheers,
