Re: Which machine about $4000 almost same performance to 1 group Lm Gs3?
Agreed....the Mondiale is in the wrong equipment grouping to compare.

Re: Which machine about $4000 almost same performance to 1 group Lm Gs3?
:-? A very big statement mft- with which I disagree. The Mondiale may be comparable to some other machines, but at GS/3 level it is about a lot more than looks. The mondiale is a heat exchanger machine and does not offer a rotary pump tank/plumbed configuration either, so in fact its not at all comparable other than it can make coffee. The three machines I have first hand experience of all ran hot.Originally posted by 5E5547330 link=1294352453/5#5 date=1296089429isomac la mondiale - plus its the best looking machine on the market

Re: Which machine about $4000 almost same performance to 1 group Lm Gs3?
Great concise reply BF.
I guess really it all comes down to budget as jibbi didnt give us much more to go on in his question.
Without any extra info the scope is broad going from around say $2500.00 to $4000.00 leaving too many choices, combinations and permutations inbetween.
Example.....in an ideal world where I had $4000.00 set aside to spend on a coffee machine (separate issue to grinder at this point), but obviously could put a lot of money back in my pocket if I went for a Minore at $2800.00......I personally would go the Alex Duetto if I wanted a dual boiler PID controlled machine, or one of my own BFC LIRA 1 group HX machines....because I value the difference in what I think I get for the extra money even if only for the quieter smoother operation of rotary machines and the "feeling of quality" that produces during operation.
If its for a home kitchen, and given performance and quality of coffee is going to be great dependent on competency of operator as long as a well built and controlled machine of any type is purchased, then personal taste in appearance also comes into it......! These are long term purchases and do need to look good.
At this point I think the topic is too broad, need more input.
Regardz,
Attilio.

Re: Which machine about $4000 almost same performance to 1 group Lm Gs3?
A machine is only as good as the operator at the end of the day. Old computer thing GIGO applies.
I set up my little Pavoni (manual domestic lever) and the Izzo (3 grp commercial lever) a while back with the same beans and separate grinders (same type) on the same beans. Over several shots from both all I resolved is that they were both producing good/great shots but both were different in the cup. Which do I prefer, both
Where the preceding ramble is going is dont get to hung up on spending X but make sure X gets you what you want in the cup. The Alex Duetto is certainly worth a look as in the new Giotto Rotary Tanked model. And as Attilio mentioned a 1 grp Commercial option if you have the bench space. Also dont discount the idea of even a Minore 3 and spend the change on a better grinder.

Re: Which machine about $4000 almost same performance to 1 group Lm Gs3?
Hello jibbi and welcome to CS.
Sorry cant resist.
In the context of your question, would you kindly define the meaning of the word "performance", and the phrase "as good as".
Who says any other well designed and built brand machine is not "as good as" an LM, including any commercial heat exchanger type (which make up by far the greatest proportion of machines sold world wide). In what situation?
If cost is an issue, there is no doubt that multiple boiler machines will always cost more to build, so in this context, machines that dont cost as much are actually "better than" an LM!
If you are looking for something more well priced, then you have quite a choice available and anyones opinion of whether something "is as good as" a La Marzocco or not probably doesnt come into it.
I will be the first to submit then, that one of our BFC LIRA 1 group commercial heat exchanger machines, well set up at pre delivery and operated by a well trained competent espresso machine operator, will offer you coffee which is "as good as" anything that an LM can do for you, at a much more "convenient" price. But in what situation exactly?
There is also ofcourse the Alex Duetto (imported by our very own Talk Coffee), which is another 2 boiler / PID controlled machine but I dont know how the prices between it and the LM compare.
The next assumption of course, is that the person cupping the coffee is competent to judge if there are any differences due to the internal technology of the machines, and of course no such cupping can be conducted unless you have both type of machine on the bench together so that a fair, one on one cupping can be conducted.
If the cuppings show different results, who is to say that one is "better than" the other OR.....are they just different?
The same thoughts can be leveled at any differences that might be found in "performance" between the two types of machine when judged fairly by the same competent operators.
I expect this will of course result in the usual academic forum discussion on "theoretical quality", and while that is happening life will go on in the real world.
Dont let your mind overule what your taste buds think they are tasting or how your eyes see something "performing", let alone make decisions on which equipment best suits you, based solely on the reading of internet generated academics and brand "iconism".
Hope this helps.

Attilio
