  • Rancilio Z11 Omicron

Hi fellow snobbers. I dont normally like these types of threads but now find myself starting one!

I have the opportunity to buy a used commercial machine that has been used in a small office and appears, from photos, to be in pretty good condition.

The current owner has no idea about the details but I believe it’s a Rancilio Z11 Omicron. A former employee there, who was also a barista, talked them into buying it.

    They’re asking $550.

My intended use would be strictly for entertaining. It’s more of a ‘want’ than a ‘need’. The price seems good to me but I guess there’s always the fear of pricey repairs.

Anyone have experience/opinions of these machines?

Im pretty sure thats an s20?? theyre okay machines... not the best, not the worst. Good thing about them is they dont need a cooling flush of longer than a second.

Thanks Mischa, I think that just highlights I would be out of my depth with a commercial machine. As cheap as it sounds I will give it a miss. I need to make some room before I consider a purchase like that, my current equipment list reads as:

      VBM Domobar Junior
      Anfim Best Chrome Grinder
      Sunbeam EM0480
      Nuova Simonelli Oscar
      Gino Rossi CC45
      Rocket Giotto PP
      La Pavoni Europiccola (resto job)
      Bezerra BZ35 (resto job)
      Nemox Junior
      Eureka MDMCA
      Isomac Professionale
      Nuova Simonelli Grinta

Thats in really good ascetic condition but youre in Adelaide and that machine will be 10 years old at least and will be FULL of scale but for $500 its a good deal

Thanks Tek. Scale is definitely a worry over here. If Id decided to inspect the filtration system (if any) would have been the first thing Id have checked.

At least I got the model right.
