I have also just started a restoration project for a E91 diplomat. I am reconnecting the button panels but theres a connector ( circled in red ) I cant figure out where to plug to. If anyone can shed any light into this the help would be greatly appreciated.
If you have not found out what this connector relates to already if you can clarify the wire colours which look like yellow brown and black to me, then i will check it out and let you know.

............. just checked and it is defo the connector for a flow meter, as this appears to be a 2 group it is probably a standard loom that is used

Error code E1 is related to your NTC sensor in the right side of the boiler, you will most probably need to replace this and depending on the model of e91 may need to calibrate the new NTC via the Main-card. Hope this helps
Could you give me some guidance on the calibration ie where on the card is the calibration screw, I know the pot at the rear left of the board is for controlling the led contrast, but am wary of messing with any other pots without knowing their function. I have a manual of sorts in PDF format but it is not comprehensive enough. If anyone needs it I can forward it on.
Thanks for the guidance so far, it is a help but has not allowed me to solve the "boiler over pressure E1" problem yet.

I dont have a tech Manual, but the first thing Id check is my PSTAT. It may be reading false pressure causing a disconnect in your heating circuit.
could you clarify this as there does not appear to be any sort of pressure reading device at all on the system.

Removed all cabling, electronics and the pump, then a quick rinse with a garden hose to prepare for disassembly ( it didnt smell very good.. )

Turned out the flowmeter was blocked with scale. After cleaning the flowmeter, the LEDs ( in a row in picture below ) would flash when brew water flows, and the programming worked

Fired her up and the boiler heats up to an indicated 1.2bar and stays there. No error message so it looks like the extra connector is not used.

Water flows from both groups. Even though I can activate the dose programming and the programmed dose count ( shown on the LCD ) seems to stick after cycling power, the dosed water seems to not change after programming. Next step is to open up the flowmeters to check ( flowmeters are suspect because the LED on the control board do not flash while water is flowing )

The closest matching user manual I have found is the one for the E92/A. E91 manuals are mostly for the non-LCD versions.

That might explain it - my unit does not come with the optional auto milk frother, so the connector might be unused. Anyway Ill wire it up to 240v and see if any error messages are displayed. So far no luck finding schematics.

looking at online sales specifications, Could it be the "auto milk-frothing-device" controller? as the website suggests its volumetric and "standard on all models"

Apart from that, maybe some extension for Faema testing equipment or something similar?

Nope - this is a male connector, all the others on the cable loom are female.

I appreciate the help a lot - hope I can contribute in some form later on...

Thanks Coffeeman. I thought that too, but the two flowmeters each have a connector which plugs into the button ciruit boards. Ive checked again and again but it looks like all the connectors on both boards have been identified.
