finally got around to photgraphing that part that sparked the other day, not sure what its mission in life is, its on the diagrams but no listing for what it is., its a sirai brand part Im guessing some kind of electro valve? seems kind of odd being connected to two brass pipes and just "sitting there" with no support?

Re: La San Marco 85/16M 3grp Sullos at it again

Wow, was this machine part of some kind of demolitions experiment?...why the hell is the pipe bent like that?

I can try scanning the manual for you, but its not terribly helpful beyond labelling the parts that are already on Coffeeparts and "boot-up" instructions. Only a few pages in english.

But if you like, ill see what i can do?

Also, re the sightglass (or lack thereof), just wing it. Use the manual lever to fill the boiler for what you think is an acceptable time (it takes a few minutes to fill that way) and just turn it on.
The autofill will then kick in and do the rest pretty quickly. I wouldnt advise doing this regularly just in case, but as a one off....

Also, you may try position 2 on the dial. I think thats "electronics on, element off", so that may engage the autofill. Just make sure the topmost green switch is set to Auto (not lit up).

EDIT:....dont try position 2, i tried it on mine and i can hear the element kicking in. Not sure what it does.

uhoh I dont have a green switch, but three red ones that turn the groups into manuals, its a volumetric!
lol I can see this is going to be fun hehehe
nothing like a good challenge at least it will give me something to do for 5 minutes

Re: La San Marco 85/16M 3grp Sullos at it again

oh, well in that case, just use the red ones. Mine are green, maybe yours have been replaced. The top one is the one im referring to.

btw, i love the switches. Not because i use them all that much, but because htey are such a great idea for an otherwise fairly electronic machine. The manual states they are specifically designed for use in cases of total electronic failure of the touchpads. So you get all the convenience of a volumetric machine with pre-set doses....without the massive expense of replacing those components if they fail (if you dont want).

O...M...G....im SUCH a moron. For almost a year now ive been using this machine in Switch Position 1, and wondering why it takes soo long to heatup. Well a few weeks ago i bought a Wattmeter to measure how much it costs to run...and it showed up as 1000W...so i thought perhaps 2 elements were disable to allow the machine to run on a standard 10A circuit. But because my house has 20A circuits, and the one the machine is on is relatively empty, i was going to try and "reconnect" the elements.

Well with all this talk of the #2 switch position, i decided to check out what it actually did (cos the light stays on, and as i said earlier, the element still kicks in so its not a "cold start" mode).....after plugging in the wattmeter and flicking it from #1 (1000W) to position #2....WHAM....3000W.

What an IDIOT. haha oh well, i do blame the manual as it tells you to use #1 and only mentions #2 for Gas Machines...but still.

Re: La San Marco 85/16M 3grp Sullos at it again

My guess in position 1 is for coffee cart use.... or locations where there is only a standard power outlet (fairs and the like)....

Position 2 if for where serious permanent power is available..... (or gas on the gas fired models).

Sullo, a little hard to judge from the photo, but that sparked coil otherwise looks like an electromagnetic valve. Where precisely is it in the water circuit?

                          Zakal,

Get something like HJSplit (freeware) and that will split any file down to segments you can email..... the recipient then joins them back together again with their version of that same program......

Very handy if your attachment size is limited!

Well, if it turns out it is a functioning part (looks like it is - where do those split copper pipes from the out-take T feed into - looks like the other two groupos?) then Parker solenoids are available at:

                                http://www.jumbocoffee.com.au/accessories/solenoid.html

                                (Jumbo aka Coffee Parts)

Parker solenoids look to be the same as Lucifers - if you look on Parker Corporations website in the US it seems that they own the Lucifer brand these days.
