I think it is a bit to much for you to manage..

How about I flick you 50 and take it off ya hands
Thanks for the offer mate, but the machine is 380mm wide, and if I remember correctly you have a 330mm restriction

      Re: La Pavoni Pub single

So, Ive been working on the machine, but I have not posted any updates. Here are some pics that were taken May 27.

At this point I stripped the whole machine down, and the insides of the boiler looked a lot worse than the outsides

I fumbled with the flow meter, and broke off one pin. School fees
A also broke a plastic piece off the inlet side of the vibrapump. More School fees. At the very least it looked like the vibrapump was buggered anyway. I will keep the old one around for spares.

Here are a few more from the same day.

I took a whole lot of other pictures during the stripping process, but thought I would share these.

Skip to July 7th. I really spent less time on the Pav than I had planned. I have started to clean all the stuff, and gave the boiler its first bath. The scale in the boiler was very persistent, and I ended up doing a citric acid bath, and 2 cafetto descaler baths, and in the end it was very clean and shiny.

                Nico,
Its starting to come together! This machine is absolutely gorgeous and well worth any spare second you have.
So what stage are you up to now? Please keep us updated with info and pics

                Cheers,
                Ben

                  Re: La Pavoni Pub single

                  I took these this morning.

                  Everything is back together!!

Now I just need to wait a day or two for the thread sealant I used in a few places to completely cure, and then I can fire everything up.

I will see if I have some pics of some of the cleaned parts before assembly. Here is the whole lot all back together again.

I replaced the crappy little pressure stat that was all stuffed up with a fine specimen more fitting to this class of machine. In the <edit> fourth pic I am holding the old one next to the new one.

                  I really hope it works

                    Re: La Pavoni Pub single

Here are a few pics of the Front of the machine. It needs a little bit of work still.

For now I will put in a bit of work on the cosmetics of the machine. Get the splash plate and front a bit more polished and even more shiny looking, while I wait for the thread sealant to cure.

I also still need to give proper attention to the group handles, and the sides of the machine. The rear cover has had a bit of a polish already.

I am dying to switch the machine on already, and I really hope there is nothing that is stuffed like electronics or anything else.

                        Question for everyone

in Nicos picture of his Gicar flow meter in reply #18, it looks like there is a little LED light where the wiring / solenoid goes on.

Is it a LED? does it (do they) light up in operation?

if not  a LED whats it for as mine has one as well that does not light up

this is a very nice looking machine Nico, saw one i a Kebab shop in crows nest Sydney the other day and thought it looked good. Wasted in the kebab shop i reckon but.....

Good luck when you flip the switch

                          Re: La Pavoni Pub single

It is indeed an led. I would assume they light up everytime the magnets in the impeller wheel goes past the sensor. I will let you know if it does indeed go on, as I will probably be running it in the garage for a while without all the covers on. I figure that will limit the damage done if it blows up.

                            Re: La Pavoni Pub single

Nico, thanks to your pics i got my flowmeter issue sorted on my Brugnetti, cheers.

!!!! be careful of the electricity !!!

something i was thinking of for when you turn it on, is there a way you can pre-fill the boiler?

If it was mine I would consider prefilling if you can, it might be a lot of labour on that pump at the start. I took the OPV of mine to do it on one, not sure how you could on this one looking at the picks.

Some machines have a lever to press it allow water to bypass the pump. Mine does but it is a rotary and may be bigger than yours.

also see if you can prime the pump by making sure the water is right up to it in the hose and not drawing up the hose from a tank. If plumbed in it should not be a problem if a tank it might need priming.

I have actually assisted pumps by filling the hose with water and while holding the hose up "blown" into it with my mouth to pressurize the water in the hose at the pump and turning it on (the reverse of siphoning fuel?) when it then primes you can put the hose bank in the "tank" be safe if you attempt this!!!

!!!! be careful of the electricity !!!
                            my disclaimer

look forward to pics of your 1st shots

                              Re: La Pavoni Pub single

Thanks for the tip. I Will be using an external tank, as it is a plumbed in model, but I was thinking of temporarily plumbing it in, for the exact reasons stated above. Alternatively, I can undo the internal pipe right by the vibrapump, and suck the water myself right up to the pump, and reconnect

I was thinking of removing the auto fill sensor, and filling through there with a funnel.

The one option I have also considered with the external tank was to keep the tank on top of a kitchen cabinet, and get gravity to help with supplying a bit of extra pressure, if needed. I am still not sure if it is possible to adjust the brew pressure other than by limiting or boosting the pressure on the way into the machine.

Is it too early to be considering a rotary pump mod?

or disconnect the element when you first turn it on to fill the boiler. That is what I do with a machine I have that fills very slowly and is at risk of ruining the elemen.
