Currently trying to look for materials to do something similar to the gs/3....
From KvdWs Speedster site:
Option A
High gloss stainless steel body parts. (see picture above) The material we use is called "Mirror 8".
The gloss is so perfect this material is actually also used to manufacture mirrors
The GS/3 is doing a fine job, and provides a contrast with my previous machine (Giotto).
Some factors I have noticed;
- LOTS quieter
- much more powerful steaming
- different technique required. The stopwatch is really helpful in making the change, and refining, but it is quite different.
I hesitate to say which machine is more forgiving, because I am much more accustomed to one of them, but I do think that the GS/3 is more sensitive to dose and grind, but it strangely seems less effected by tamp (I dont think that that makes any sense, either). And I probably dont vary my tamping much, anyway.
It may well be that the GS/3 will shine even more as I get used to it (I expect so), and as I finetune preinfusion and temperature.
Ok so to buy a piece of stainless steel/mirror and cut it to the exact size I want is >50 dollars.
I found a piece of mirror which came with a comb from the cosmetic section of big W for 4 dollars, cut it up, held it in place with two thin strips of metal so I can remove it to clean when it gets dirty.
Now I dont have to strain my neck everytime I use the naked PF
thanks for the auto rinse tip. Ill use it next time.
I have been playing with varying temperatures, and found an increase from 94 to 95 degrees made a marked difference in taste, and the area on the tongue I felt it. Give it a crack, well worth a try.
