    Re: New toy (GS/3)

Hows it going now that youve had them for about 6 months? Ive been doing some research, and on an American website I read that there was some problems with a "blocked gicleur".

Still happy and think it was worth it? Any problems?

Have you been mucking around much with pre-infusion chris?
I have played a little Gavin...

I like that you can use mains to ramp it as long as you like- and in fact pour a whole shot without the pump if you like. I have found that an early backoff seems to work well...

    Come for a play someday

    Chris
Sounds awesome. Would love to be able to do that on my GS/3. Ill just make a paddle out of cardboard and pretend

I might just take you up on that offer!

A paddled gs/3 needs to be plumbed to be able to make full use of the manual pre-infusion anyway so although id prefer a paddle i wouldnt be able to use it.

Ill just buy a slayer when I win the powerball and move into my new home...

How does the footprint compare to other domestics? Im surprised at how big the K10 looks next to it. From that pic it looks a much more reasonable size then a Synesso for home use.
    Howdy MM,

Details including the footprint are at http://www.talkcoffee.com.au/downloads/coffee-machines/lamarzocco-gs3-flyer.pdf

re you going to drill more holes in the counter to tidy up those leads?
    Erm, nope Den....

I need to do a little work underneath to secure the lines out of the way...Like the mechanics car, Im gonna get a round tuit ;-)

Nice pics Chris. The low lines of the GS3 make that paddle look even more imposing!

Are you going to drill more holes in the counter to tidy up those leads? ;D

My Galatea can fit 3 cups across and the GS3 has 4
So from the pictures its probably only 10 cm wider

    HI  Shaun

i think my gs3 is set at 94 .....  what temp are you usung to get the cocoa earthy flavours? 95 .....  or higher ?

    regards paul
Do take note of the offset temperature. If your coffee boiler is set to say 95degrees and your offset is -2 then your brew temperature will be approximately 93. Only way to find out is with a scace and your machine should be factory calibrated when you got it.

Changing the temperature doesnt exactly ALTER the characteristics of the bean. It wont give you a floral and bright brew at 93 degrees and a full bodied earthy cocoa brew at 95 all from a Yirg.

It just enables you to highlight or amplify the characteristics of the SO/blend you are brewing.

"Im seriously blown away by the programmability of this machine. Slightly higher temperatures and the cocoa, earthiness and body is amplified. Lower temperature for more fruit, acid and high notes."

Thats what I meant to say!  Thanks for putting it into words, Gavin.
