And if one part breaks down 6 baristas stand around watching until its fixed.
Bad economics. Better to have two or three independent smaller machines.

Nope, this machine is basically six single groups in one body - that shares two steam boilers. The beauty of machines like this is if one group/pump/steam boiler goes down then all the others are still operational.

And six baristas ;D three - four maybe - all working at peak capacity (that would be two on shots - three groups each, and two on milk)

Surely the power needs to be cut to the entire machine if a tech has to fiddle with one half?

are the paddles micro controlling the flow of the pump or not?

looking at this pic, 2 X 3 groups joined together? Middle steam wand just off the right boiler?

you can see the "join" in the 2nd pic

then it might be wired up so you can isolate one side (3grps) would make a lot of sense for the repair man

            lol

I can just see an electrician working on the machine with 2 baristas working flat out on either side :-)

That is true but you can service the machine out of hours and still have most of the capacity of the machine until you close for the day.

Largest ever?  I have seen a photo of a six group Faema Nettuno, but its not on the net.  Faema advertised it as being available with either a 50 litre boiler or two 25 litre ones.

looks like something you need a dedicated power plant and water reservoir to run!

Ok so I was there today at Proud Mary and admired this machine. it has 6 boilers for the groups and 2 steam. They use 3 groups for single origin to prevent cross contamination.
We spent some time here with Mitch (Ex Liar Liar) and had a great time.
Great Coffee. Good service. Great passion.

Oh please. Im surprised that by the end of that spiel they didnt tell you the name of each of those groups - Drivel, Hype, and Mumbo Jumbo. :P

Well the were actually called Huey, Dewey and Louie.
To be Frank or George or even Fred it was still a great looking piece of machinery with the custom wooden handles.

Oh and I didnt mention that it has 2 60amp 3 phase connections so I offered a contract to them to supply electricity from my power company that I work for. Their electrician asked what the ..... are you putting in here!
