Does anyone know where I could get this ECM portafilter its called a Gran Crema but there a number of models the one I want is stainless on the end? Otherwise is there someone who sells a range of portafilters that would fit the duetto? Ive seen the ones coffeeparts sells.

      Jono;

It is what I call a common E61 group head, any E61 group handle naked will fit, just tested.

Youll lose the posibility to regulate the steam according to your needs (pitcher size) if you install those joysticks.

Also, I assume that it would void your warranty. Chris N - is this correct?
The machine is brilliant as is, I am in no hurry to modify mine.

Yeah a new portafilter wouldnt I guess its just something to look at for the future after warranty is expired.

Yes please Jono and others. Please leave any tweaking which requires internal access until clear of warranty. Saves us being asked to rectify machines when things go wrong.

Has anyone looked into changing the steam tip on their Duetto?

I can get a decent milk out of the Duetto, but I seem to do a better job on other machines like the Rancillo Silvia & Breville Dual Boiler. Milk seems to be much more creamier and silkier on these smaller machines.

It could also be a skill thing, but Im interested to read about other peoples experience. Ive notice the breville double boiler has 3 holes that have a smaller diameter compared to the 2 hole on the duetto.

Gday specialpants. It really is a matter of getting used to your machine. I get beautiful microfoam.

One way to make it easier is to slow it down with less pressure via smaller or fewer holes. You could investigate foodsafe silver solder and then redrill the existing holes at 0.9mm or just block one of the holes. Hope that helps.

Help!  My Alex has suddenly started "spluttering" from the grouphead.  I have to run off a considerable amount of water before I get a smooth flow.  Would appear that the water temp is too high but I have not made any adjustments.  Can anyone advise why this may be occurring????
Just following up on this one, Dimattina looked at the machine last week and found the PID offset set to 18 deg C :-/ This would have resulted in close on 100 deg C at the group.

We set the PID for 18 deg C ambient and this results in a 10 deg C offset. I have also scaced our demo in 30+ deg ambient and an offset of 7 deg C was required.

Also, a general reminder to owners that it really is best to run this PID in deg C. Switching to deg F requires reprogramming of the PID settings and we have found that the performance and stability is not as good.

                            Cheers

Thanks for the feedback Chris - Ill have to keep at my technique (or try something different) for the duetto.

Soldering and drilling with pin point accuracy is beyond me - I dont do this all the time so Id probably screw it up lol

BTW - you dont sell any after market tips that fit the duetto? I did place an order with you recently but I dont think it will ship out until the sniper tampers arrive. Let me know and perhaps we can work something out.

If you want to try reducing the volume of steam, an easy way is to unscrew the tip of the wand and thread a bit of copper wire through the holes. Screw the tip back on and voila. The thicker the wire the less the steam.

I use this as a permanent fix for my machines cause my standard latte contains about 60 ml of foam, and at full tilt, the machines can spread that much milk on the walls of the kitchen entirely too easily.
