Congratulations David welcome to the fold. You have a great looking setup from a great site sponsor in Chris.
Im sure youll get many years of beautiful coffee from your machines. It really does make the Duetto a joy to use having it plumbed in.

Have you had Chris adjust your pump for mains supply. The pressure on mine was a little high when going from tank to mains and needed to be adjusted slightly.

I still get excited every day when I think about making my next cup. This comes down to the complete package being so easy to use and you have a complete package enjoy.

Is there a link you would be able to send me please (even by pm) to the manuals and videos Chris gave you?

    Cheers

    Jono

Hi Jono, thanks for your comments. I agree, given Izzo provide all the hardware to plumb in the Alex, if you have the option of plumbing in the machine thats the way to go. The Mk3 version also has a low level beep override switch so you dont need to keep any water in the tank.

Im not sure to be honest if Chris adjusted the pump for mains water? however I noticed my plumber fitted a flow reduction valve to my under sink filter which has adjusted the flow perfectly for my sink top tap. Water pressure measured on my machine is consistent at 3 bars & steam pressure measures well. Im not sure if the flow restriction valve came with my Brita filter or was supplied by my plumber. Ill check with Hames Reid & report back!

What grinder are you using btw Jono? And are you using a water filter? I recommend buying the optional sink top tap if youre investing in a Brita filter, the water definitely tastes better  8-)

      Pm sent

      Cheers,
      David.

Hello Audiophile. That we cant do as there will be some variation from home to home. What you will know is that whatever your gauge reads when run from the tank is 9 bar via a Scace II device. In the event that you see anything different on mains (after a PLV), you know what to do.

        Cheers

        Chris

David I think I have the same filter kit as you works well. Sorry about the confussion with the water pressure, Chris helped me sort mine out over the phone as Im in sydney.

I have a Kony E which Chris supplied. I love everything about it but the footprint is large. The M4D is a better size match to the duetto.

Thanks Chris, sorry to be naive but what is a PLV? The last time I checked the gauge was displaying 3 bars of pressure consistently which no doubt translates to around 9 bars on a Scace II, though im not a techy ;D

Hi guys, as promised I spoke to my plumber Kevin at Hames Reid Plumbing who confirmed they supplied the flow restriction valve which is set to 350kpa, which he said is ideal for coffee machines, dishwashers etc & identical to what they use in professional installations. Interesting!

Hello David- I suspect you paid twice.

We supplied one with your filter.

The Mazzer Kony E is probably the King of doserless grinders. Awesome! 8-) I have limited bench space, so the M4D was the best choice for me. Not a bad consolation prize!

I should have known you wouldnt miss a detail Chris! I think the plumber assumed theyd supplied it as they probably specify the same flow restictor. Great minds think alike I havent seen the bill yet, but ill swat that one if I see it on there!! Haha ;D

As im in the "get to know you" phase of using my Alex Mk3, I was wondering if any CSers have spotted any good videos on Youtube or elsewhere with operating or run through tips on an actual Alex Mk2 or later machine? There are quite a few around, its all about sifting the wheat from the chaff I reckon

Also do any Alex/M4D owners have any tips they would like to share?

                      Cheers,
                      David

Theyre all pretty crap on youtube - mainly because theyre all from the USA - no offense to our American CSers ;D. Im serious, American coffee machine reviews for some reason all look like theyre from a comedy show like Fawlty Towers!!

David, given that the Izzo has an E61 group head you can pretty much follow instructions pertaining to all E61 machines. So best place to start is on the ECA website and watch the Scottie Callaghan instructional videos they are pretty much all you need to know. Also if you bought your machine from Chris, he is a fountain of knowledge so you could always ask him for tips.

The only Alex specific stuff you have to deal with i guess is the PID and the switching of either one or both boilers. Apart from those points, from a coffee making perspective it should operate similar to any E61 machine.

There were a couple done by special pants. i think he has two you tube names one is "dickstiffen" i think, and the ones by Crew Review Gals always crack me up they are so bad.
Not really any educational ones that I have found. You may find some generic vids on espresso making more helpful.
