    Re: Izzo 3group Lever Bling

Cable tie is not to tight as I snipped it off . I will put a few back when I pick up some more High temp cable to run the switch wires or if I can find my supplies of Kapton tape I would prefer this around the hot end.

Price Mmm, had a long chat to Chris K from Paridiso Roasters today (the importer of these) so about 7.5k might do it

Located in Port Fairy and if any Snobs are around over the Long Weekend for the folk festival flash your badge for a freebie brew or if we have time try your hand on the sticks 8-) Minor non sponsor mention look for the Kite Shop

        Great kit bf!

Izzo are doing some gorgeous work with lever machines.

This is the new Pompei model just released. I reckon it would be a pretty cool home machine in 1 group configuration. Were investigating it...

          Hi Chris,

nice looker indeed saw one or two shots of it on the net. Based on the pricing I have seen out of Europe the Alex is a lot cheaper but of course price isnt everything

Should also mention the need to reinforce the kitchen bench tops too around 60kg for the single group

            Hi Chris,

I was looking at this machine too, on ebay and glad its gone to a good home! A bargain !

The groups appear to be made by La San Marco - exactly the same as my 2 group made in about 1968 ! They are very easy to maintain.

Which means you can buy parts from Pedro at Coffeeparts.

I have set up my La San Marco at 1Bar and it pours and steams beautifully.

            Have fun !

            Cheers
            Simon

              Hi Simon,

reckon your right on the La San Marco, certainly the same 3 tang portafilters (55mm) and the shower screens and retainers look the same too. I am exicted ready to flick it on when I get home tonight for some test brews as the 15A supply and plumbing is now all sorted. Might be a sleepless night I think

                Re: Izzo 3group Lever Bling

Woo hoo Tim - Im sure it will go well !

I find that with the baskets I have, I have to fill them just below the top of the basket (loose) before tamping, so the tamped coffee does not press up hard onto the screen, but yours may be a little different.

Compared with the Rancilio lever group, the La San Marco group is quite a bit more substantial and the lever action is rock solid - designed to be used all day in a commercial environment.

Yep - could be a sleepless night - or go the Decaf WOW.

                Cheers

                  Re: Izzo 3group Lever Bling

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Izzo group was around 9kg in weight each. So substantial is right

Using the stock 53.5mm Brass Tamper in 55mm baskets is going to be a pain but I sent a spare basket off to Robin at Pullman for a pair of appropriate Wenge/S.Steel tampers.

I have some Decaf WOW as green but might be a little under rested if I roast it tonight. So I will have to make do with making plenty of sink shots and sample the best ones myself, finish it off with a Red African Hot choc. then try and sleep 8-)

                    Re: Izzo 3group Lever Bling

Just a bit of steaming potential I reckon   Was going to sink shot the first one but I drank most of it as an espresso yum Second one is the pics below. 8 second pre infusion, shot time ran a little slow at around 35 seconds on the setting for my Pavoni. Milk steaming is scary need to learn to use the steam toggle with care on the small jugs. Resultant Lattechino using the Veneziano blend most exellent 8-)

Lovely piece of kit mate, no doubt about it.... 8-)

With all that steam though, seems like it should be mounted on bogies and set on rails

                      Mal.

                        Re: Izzo 3group Lever Bling

u didnt say what sunday the tasting was on ? is it this sunday the 21st feb? might turn up yet. although all this fancy machinery used to make coffee seems to be fazeing out the good old traditional methods employed at my abode where a couple of old stolen mugs, a teaspoon that i found somewhere, a plastic kettle from sams wharehouse and a 1kg tin of International Roast when served in its correct proportions can inspire conversations from "What the F**K is this" threw to "Im not F*****G drinking that" And lest we forget in the current economic hardship, the automation of car production has put thousands out of work, the automation of electronics has put further more out of work, and now the automation of coffee making.
Now having said all that, I wish to also say this; if its free and your making it, what time should i turn up. Cheers Rick

Survived the first bigger shakedown night had 20+ round for Fish & Chips, Coffees and Hot Chocs (including the heathen Powertool).

Dialled in the Genovese Blend and ran 1/2 a kg through then a chunk more of Andys WOW. A bit over 6 litres of milk some long and short blacks a really nice Double shot Ristretto for me in between the others Not sure how many coffees but I suppose 40-50 with a mix of singles and doubles.

Shots are really consistent for run times, clarity of flavour and taste is excellent. Milk with the monster steam and toggles is still a work in progress but improving, 300ml Jugs are hard work to keep it in the jug so time to buy some larger ones.

Only casualty for the night was one of my Pavoni glasses
