Java "Youre slipping AM"" phile...  Is 100% correct.

All metal parts that can become live in the event of a electrical event have to be earthed.. Now if it is screwed on its OK.. If it clips on or is insulated from the frame etc Then it SHALL have a separate earth connection.  AS3000, AS3001 etc etc Double insulated items; as defined in the regs and as a prescribed article are different.

That is why you will see extra earth tags and wiring on all the coffee machines.. Even the old bangger in the shed; made many years ago is safe... Lots of earth tags and wiring.. IF they get re connected and not left off like some lazy people do.

It is when people start to mod and do not understand that problems arrise.. Opps foil insulation is a typical example..  People only look so far and do not follow good practices of asking "What IF" or "Why" enough times..  Without understanding the issue of real SAFETY they only look so deep...

      PEBFAG

      Assumptions Kill

      PS.

      Java "Youre slipping AM"" phile

Forgot to read my other posts and failed to take into account I was out shopping for another CSr to get him out of the crap

PS. Java "Youre slipping AM"" phile is also correct on the earthing - as it is an International GWP not just anal AM...

        Chris, congrats on your Grimac.
Thanks Robusto, has been a fun experiance so far... and thanks for the review will be a great help once she is up and running. Just have to start putting it back together. I currently have a Grimac La Uno and it hasnt missed a beat for the year it has been in service.

Once every few months or so, remove the water level probe and clean the end to make sure water makes electrical contact with it.
Is scale building up on the probe? is your probe straight?

The new panels will either be screwed into the frame or pot riveted... should make sufficient contact to earth them.

TG, alive and well, hope you are likewise.

Chris, doesnt matter if the probe is bent--as long as it can slide through the assembly into the boiler.  Depending on your water hardness, the tip may become insulated with scale,  so the water will not make electrical contact.

Ok, so all the parts of the machien have been bathed and washed clean with Vanish... The Boiler is still not clear from Grime after 5 days in a Vanish Batch by itself, See photo bellow. What else should i do to get this thing clean?

Re: Grimac "Ten" Series 2 Group Compact

I found that it was removable by wiping or with a brush. It just seems to be sluge in mine, but vanish wont remove it. Strange. My boiler is smaller and I cant get access to areas behind the HX pipes. Im trying a cafetto coffee cleaner bath to see if that has any effect, and if not I will probably follow AM & Mals idea. Maybe using granular and just shaking them in the boiler.

I was going to say put it out in the sun for a while, but noticed your in MLB..... ;D

I found after i descaled one a while back after just "drying out" a few days it peeled away kind of on its own with a bit more of a scrub

i would use some nuts and bolts before rocks, less breakage of them? and count them in count them out......

OK, so I took the boiler down to the car wash today and gave it one hell of a spray, I have to say the two guys vacuming their WRXs at the Burwood HWY Car wash had a loof of "WTF" but i didnt care. The Boiler is now clean.

I Started the reasemble and i thought i should put up a couple of posts of the prgress.

                            Cheers

Did you get a new element okay?

Any decision about the side panels?
