Re: Grimac "Ten" Series 2 Group Compact

    Hi there!

seriously the "worth" of used / second hand commercial esp machines particularly old ones is relative. With the grimac name on, it has to be atleast 11 years old.  Its "worth" what you paid for it. It may be worth nothing to someone else, and twice as much to someone different.  If it works fine thats great.

You will soon learn whatever limitations it may have once you start to use it, but according to the figures youve relayed to us, I cant see any problems. It will have a good recovery rate owing to the small size of the boiler and 2600 (or whatever it is) watt element.  In essence its recovery should be as good as that of a machine with a larger boiler that has a "larger" element....its all relative. It may die quickly, but will come back quickly.....you will learn how to manage.

    Have fun,

with any commercial equipment its hard to put a worth on one. 1k maybe in decent condition? just a guess

5lt boiler is really quite small... its not the 1 in 30 that will stuff you up, its the 4 grannies coming at once that all want a large earl grey that will have you standing there like a dummy for a minute or two doing nothing. Im sure youd get by with that machine if youre not overly busy... im just saying, think about the hot water situation

    Thanks

Any idea what they are worth?

I look at how many Teas I do now and it would be maybe 1 in every 30 coffees. At 13.8 amps and a 4.9 ltr boiler recovery shouldnt be a huge issue?

pretty sure a silvia could do 10 coffees in 10 minutes :P

All depends on how busy you get...

Dont use a machine with that small of a boiler to draw hot water from though....

    Guys

Just bougt one of these machines - i think it is a compact 10....not 100% sure tho.

With the 4.9ltr boiler, how would they stand up to a market scenario where you might do 10 coffees in 10 minutes and then nothing for the next 20?

Attached is a picture - anyone know what they are worth second hand?? Also any idea of age?

    HI dashadoo

normally on some machiens they have a 2 stage switch

1 gives you power to elctronincs and pump but no heat
2 gives you heating power + electronics

please get a sparky to look at the elements if your considering changing anything if you dont have the required skills

    Hi Chris,
I was wondering if you could help me out. I just purchased a Grimac machine and was wanting to know where the elements are and if it one or two element machine, and if both or one is currently connected. I switch the machine to number 1 and i have power but no steam. when i put the knob to number 2 it pressures up really quick and then all works fine. Would this relate to the elements? Thanks for your time. Here is a pic.

Looking good there Chris Im going to get the pressure cleaner out this afternoon and give that a go. Looks nice and clean. Im still cleaning all the other parts but had to build a workbench before I could progress.

Did you get a new element okay?

Any decision about the side panels?

OK, so I took the boiler down to the car wash today and gave it one hell of a spray, I have to say the two guys vacuming their WRXs at the Burwood HWY Car wash had a loof of "WTF" but i didnt care. The Boiler is now clean.

I Started the reasemble and i thought i should put up a couple of posts of the prgress.

    Cheers

    Chris

I was going to say put it out in the sun for a while, but noticed your in MLB..... ;D

I found after i descaled one a while back after just "drying out" a few days it peeled away kind of on its own with a bit more of a scrub

i would use some nuts and bolts before rocks, less breakage of them? and count them in count them out......

Maybe using granular and just shaking them in the boiler.
