      Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

      Thanks KK,

I do appreciate the help, looking forward to getting the BZ35 up and running over the holidays. Been tinkering with it here and there but will completely disassemble and clean, just waiting on parts and to hear from the company that Angermanagement refered me to for the controller. I think I will find as you did that the Bezzera is great machine as is and wont need any mods to get a good shot of espresso, just a little learning curve, maybe. Mrs. still thinks Im crazy for buying a broken espresso machine, but I keep telling her its only broke if I cant fix it.

      Thanks again,

      Leo

I spoke to Chris @ Barazi Bezzera
He said that there is a swivel fitting for the steam arm available for the BZ99

The BZ35 has the same internal pipe-work but the chrome cowling may require the hole enlarged to accommodate it as the profiles differ slightly

You can check whats available from you US supplier

          Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

          Will do KK,

Thanks for inquiring for me. Here is a pic of the Bezzera that I seen with the valves and arms. I will look into the arm from the BZ99, but as you see here, these appear to be from one of the other Bezzera models. Ill have to decide after I get a feel for the machine if I want to change the origional arms and valves. I may just decide that they are just fine the way they are, but these do look good !

              Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

The steam & water arms in the photo above are the arms that I was contemplating on getting for the BZ40

They are the same as the Galatea and the new Gea

I looked at the video and Todd from Strong has updated the machine further by adding BZ07 style toggle/lever steam & water control knobs

              I feel its a nice touch  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I never got a reply to my e-mail to them...

May be worth a Phone call as their WEB pages are messy to say the least.

                  Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

                  AM,

I received an e-mail from MEI and we are working out the details for me to send them the box for repair, Thank you. I was begining to contemplate repairing it myself, I diaganose and repair electronic engine controls but except for the occasional diode or resistor replacement do not get into the PCB on the componet replacement level. But if I was facing buying a new one I figured what have I got to loose. Well back to cleaning & descaling.

                  Thanks again,

No problem.. The usual culprit is teh transformer or relay :-)

The issue can be obtaining one to suit >

                      Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

                      Gday,

                      Hope everyone had a great Holiday Season, finally got the BZ35 apart and while Im waiting for the parts to arrive I figured Ild ask a question or two;

Does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of the electrical sechematic for the BZ35-DE volumetric (auto) ? As I really got into this I seen that the previous owner attempted a repair and replaced the main power switch, and Im not sure, but something seemed amiss about the wiring on the switch and I want to be sure it is correct before I put this back together. Would also be a great troubleshooting tool if I need it, I have one for the semi-auto, but when it comes to the control box (where the problem lies) it is not accurate, and I think that the power switch may have been installed incorrectly damaging the control box.. I figured a lot of it out on my own, I just want to be sure.

And when I check the heating element for resistance what should I be reading for a 1600 watt element ?

I realize Im getting a little off topic here as this is a BZ40 owners thread, I believe I asked a question about a steam arm and rambled on from there. I started a thread in the Pointy End section and will post there as the rebuild continues, thanks for all your help and opinions and I hope you follow along in the other thread, I know Ill need a little help from time to time.

This is a link to the schematic for the BZ35 GB model and will help with the switch

                          Re: Bezzera BZ40 owners

                          Thanks KK,

I think the previous owner had the wires crossed and shorted out the power relay in the Giemme control box, the wires that go to the switch from the control box (Power-blue & Ground-black) trace back to the power relay in the box. Still working out the the trouble with the box, EMI does not have an exchange for the box and told me it was impratical to repair at the cost of the replacement $325 U.S. The only problem I have with that is that the power relay in the box only cost a couple dollars, the other problem as Angermanagement stated is finding the correct replacement.

                          Thanks again,

                          Leo
