  • Volumetric + Rotary pump + internal tank - does it exist?

Im sticking this in the extreme section because I assume that these specs would require it.

Is there any machine out that that has volumetric controls plus a tank plus a rotary pump that isnt huge like the Iberital LAnna?

I would love a machine with these specs.  The LAnna is cool - but a 4 litre boiler is probably overkill for a couple of lattes every morning ;D.

    Yours in hope

          Na....

I reckon you could try the Super Mini DC

          OR

A DCM and mod it with rotary as a couple of people OS have done...

PS: New models being released around October... Maybe and thus I understand a significant $$$ drop to existing stock maybe...

PPS. Why the need for teh rotary ?

Noise or perceived pressure fluctuations in teh shot pressure ?

Noise is the main thing. But bench space is also an issue.

I love the DCM - its truly tiny...but the vibe pump would wake up the kids (and the neighbours) every morning...

Part of the morning coffee ritual for me and the missus is trying to get to drink our coffees in peace...without 3 small kids climbing on us/fighting/breaking things. I fear a vibe pump wont give a us a fighting chance. :-[

I also love the Spaz Mini Vivaldi - fab specs, awesome looks - and not too noisy - but its a bit of a whopper.

Part of the big sell to the missus is saying "but darling - you work at home now - Im sure youd like to make yourself a fresh coffee during the day". Thats the appeal of the volumetric - plus you can focus on steaming the milk without watching the shot.

Octobers not too far away... :

Or maybe Ill go for a Ponte Vecchio - and work in sweet silence .

What are you going to do about the grinder? Or has that proven to not be a problem?

Grinder hasnt been such a problem - my Macap is pretty quiet and quick - as Im only grinding enough for a double - kids notice it when theyre awake but I dont think its actually waking them up...touch wood!

I dont think its that hard to get spoilt by a rotary pump but I doubt that they actually put anything wahtsoever in the cup and if you can taste, please enter and win cup tasting

The silence of them is really nice and I couldnt imagine going back.

                    Morning Chris,
Have contemplated converting the Bezzera to rotary however I believe (I could be wrong) that you lose the preinfusion aspect of the machine, the silence would certainly be nice.

My DCM has a Vibe pump and so do others... Depending on the plumbing and smart placement of some minor insulation not so noisy as some might think...

It all comes down to management..

And I may be a bit on the edge...

But there are vibe pumps and then vine pumps... As well as vibe pump mounts etc...

Maybe a Silence kit could be developed and sold as an after market add on

Ah, a google search bought up the ECM Veneziano A1 - bit of a classic, it seems, that ticks all the boxes.

If any Coffeesnobs want to let go of theirs, Im sure Id be prepared to stump up a couple of hundred dollars to encourage them! :P

                              Hi Sniff,

I was contacted last week by a lady who has a Veneziano A1 and an ECM grinder (presumably a Best?) in Melbourne and wants to sell it. Drop me a line if you want her details.

Beware though that youd be talking thousands, not hundreds
