  • Carimali not quite working need help please

    Hi Guys,

I have just purchased a Carimali machine and I am having a little trouble finding a manual for it or even a model number, The machine creates steam and hot water however I need to troubleshoot the actual group heads as there is no water distributed to these.

I have a touch panel and the one seems to not work and has a flashing orange light and the other appears to do what is supposed to however no water is pumped through the group head.

Attached is a picture of the machine if anyone can point me to a manual or offer advise it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Jamie.

    Welcome to CS Jamie

Can first ask from where you purchased this machine & a little machine background info?
I am sure someone will be able to assist you

    Now to your problem
If the machine has been sitting a while it may just simply have an air lock or a blockage

However on the worst side of the scale it may need a new circuit board

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

      Whats ya location..

My guess is a Mini / major rebuild with solenoids gunked up with scale / oils and any number of other issues..

And or as KK stated - A controller board etc a good posibility.

Unless you have some significant mechanical / electrical understanding; then thes sorts of projects can be quite involved and not a 5 min fix.

Regardless of what the seller said.

e-bay = Was working and we took it out of teh shop/home/ etc and have had it in storage for a while. Stored correctly and powers up. Was fully operational last time we used it.

Coffee machines are usually not so forgiving...

In this case teh seller covered their bases very well:

"Sale as is condition. what you see what you get, can not because the power plug is 20A, it was in store long time.

The machine may work, may need service, or for spares part. No refund, no return, no complain."

My guess is major work / scrap parts... At a cost of $355 not sure how much you can afford to bite off....

See ya local sponsor and do you research well in advance rather than post purchase.

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

KK and Angermanagement thanks for your replies,

I am in Newcastle, I did purchase this machine from ebay thanks for pointing this out Angermanagement.

I did not expect not to have to do any work to this machine to get it working I did my homework on parts and prices and knew roughly what I would have to pay for things, and yes it was for a project as well.

That said I have mechanical and electronic ability so I am sure I can get this to work, what would be very helpful would be a service manual most service manuals I have seen have a troubleshooting guide which would be a good place to start.

I will check the solenoids first as this will be the cheapest option, can you offer any advise on how I should check for a air pocket purge/bleed the machine.

        Thanks for your help.

        Jamie.

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

i have a few carimali manuals but they might not be much help (maybe a little). PM me you email addy and i will send u what i have.

the model number might be under the drip try at the front, lift out the Ssteel tray and look there. mine is on top of the control box.

i would 1st confirm the pump is pumping water.... start from there.

some machine auto program the left pad when you program the right (depending on what side is plugged into "slot 1" on the control board)
slot one is the main one on mine. but you can also program slot 2 on its own.

          questions
          1. are you hooked to mains pressure on the pump? the pumps prefer line pressure but will work if you make sure water is priming the pump if using a tank.

i put the bucket / jerry can of water on top of the machine to ensure water is in the line and at the pump ready...

          2. did it auto fill when you 1st turned it on? do you think the pump filled it (it ran) or did it fill by line pressure?

          3. does the "working side" go click click and the pump runs when you press the touch pad buttons even though no water comes out?

plenty of help on here, if the controller , pumps working and your getting steam, their is a good chance you can bring it back to life

I have sent you a pm with my email address.

              Thanks

Good to see you hanging in there... The issue is that many make ONE post about 5 min after an e-bay buy....

It was your first post and no intro NOR any background; thus hard to know where to start with help.

My first questing was - So you have a 20A cct and plug in your home ?

And like maheel I do have some cct diagrams and some info but.  Trouble shooting guides etc included ..  Not really... A service Manual.. Now a true service manual is a rare best for many machines...

WHY.... Because once you understand most of the main principles around coffee machines and have been trained in / on a few.. The cct is usually all you need.

But the cct with no understanding can cause problems for all.

So you a Qualified  Radio /  TV tec   / Electronics  or a Electrician ?

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

No none of the above, I have done first year electronics at university plenty of plumbing experience growing up on a farm and I am a aircraft sheetmetal worker for trade.

I like my coffee so this machine is going to be fixed.

I have so far discovered that the LHS touch panel is not working the RHS is, there is not much to the touchscreen so I will try and repair this.

The Pump was siezed and I have now got it freed up and it pumps water fine, it does not however stop and over pressurizes the boiler, I have adjusted the screw on the side of the pump all the way in and out and this doesnt help.

I am tipping this is going to be an electrical sensor somewhere, is this correct or is the pressure only maintained by the pump?

Yes I have a 20A plug where my machine is located.

                  Thanks

                  Jamie.

                    Maheel

I have done some research with the machine and have some answers to your questions.

                    1. are you hooked to mains pressure on the pump? the pumps prefer line pressure but will work if you make sure water is priming the pump if using a tank.

I have now hooked this up to a tank above the machine as this is easier, I may plumb this in later but I have to get it working first.

                    2. did it auto fill when you 1st turned it on? do you think the pump filled it (it ran) or did it fill by line pressure?
This filled by line pressure and now that I have the pump fixed it is pressurising from the pump and a reservoir.

                    3. does the "working side" go click click and the pump runs when you press the touch pad buttons even though no water comes out?

Yes I have to leave the hot water tap on to prevent the machine from over pressurising however when the pump stops it does eventually and I press a button the pump starts up no water out of the group head though, this seems to me that it will be a solenoid problem or a blockage I cant see that anything else could cause this, thanks for getting me started.

not sure what you mean here? when you are trying to make a coffee? if thats what you mean, it is volumetric so will pump until certain vloume passes - in your case I gather none! the screw on the pump adjusts the pump pressure.

take off and clean out the 3 way solenoids and you should hopefully have flow again. if this doesnt work, maybe blockage in your groups but more likely solenoids need clean.

why do you say it is overpressurising? what happens?

                          Hi Frabel

When I turn on the machine the pump starts a couple of seconds later and fills up the boiler until the pressure gauge goes off the dial and the over pressure valve opens and water goes everywhere.

Not a great thing to have happening I need to fix this first I think.

sounds like it is not correctly sensing the water level. you need to check oyut the water level probe and see if scaled.
