Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

Controller and level detect - sounds like a problem ?

Adjust pump pressure is about the group head pressure for running a shot ... Not fill or boiler pressure.... That comes back to the pressurestat etc...

Home Barista has some great reading and guides as to Coffee machines and how they work...

Would suggest you go and do a bit more reading as it will help every one. Otherwise it just gets frustrating for ALL.

http://www.home-barista.com/resources.html then the how to section..

Thanks Frabel, I will go find that and check it out.
yeah either that or some related electonics problem like AngerManagement says.

        about to send the manuals.....

Jamie, confirm the level of water in the boiler by

be safe with that 240V !!

        1. pulling the plug from wall
        2. waiting to its cold or a bear minimum no steam pressure (some risk)
        3. remove water sensor
        4. insert wooden spoon etc as depth wand to gauge water depth.
        5. clean sensor if it needs it.
        6. re-insert sensor and adjust level to aleast above the elements, i go a little above half way or elements when testing / cleaning etc.

if the boiler is full to the brim, confirm circuit of sensor basics by
        1. confirming sensor does not short etc
        2. wires seem to be attached and make a circuit etc.

are you talking shot pressure gauge or boiler pressure gauge?
if shot pressure it might be a blockage and just blowing out the water over pressure? or is it blowing out the top of the boiler?

        what fun
        Maheel

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

hey just another thought - dont know how smart your machine is, but sounds like it not sensing water level right, and then auto cuts out the pump. that may be why your touchpad is flashing - becuase it is telling you your mahine has a problem. so I wouldnt hurry to fix the touchpad yet.

            manuals sent

            pumps
you will need to set it to +- 9 bar by adjusting that screw with a gauge preferably on the group head
on a tank it needs to be set to 9 bar, if on mains you need to reduce the pump to take into account the line pressure.

from my bit of limited experience, sometimes you turn that screw / bolt but the inside bit does not move on old pumps....
i like to tap it with a hammer / spanner to help after making an adjustment just in case.

but does not make much diff until your getting water in the ghead...

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

              Ok Guys

Thanks heaps for all your help, I have found a broken wire on the water level sensor and fixed that, I also changed the touch pads over and the other groups head now functions perfectly so obviously a solenoid issue on one side and a touch pad issue on the other both of these should be easy enough to fix.

Now I just need to get the pump at the correct pressure at the group head and clean things up a bit.

Do I need to purchase a gauge to measure the pressure at the group head?

I only have one gauge on the machine and it measures boiler pressure.

              Thanks again.

              Jamie.

You can buy one from Coffee Parts or rent one from Pullman.

good to hear its coming back to life

you can also make a group head / group handle gauge for about $30.

pick up a oil filled gauge that goes to about 150 psi / 1000kpa and a copper fitting to get it to screw onto your group handle.

i got my gauge from a water filter / pool shop and the fitting from reece plumbing

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

                    Thanks Maheel,

I was wondering how I was going to do that for an affordable price, almost contemplating taking it to a shop and letting them do the pressure however that does kind of defeat the purpose of do it yourself.

I will be making one of thee up over the next week, I have blockage issues stil to contend with, I have repaired the touch panel with a circuit writer pen from Jaycar, and I have discovered that the second group head water issues was a blockage in the flow meter, this is still causing some grief as I have different flow rates to each group head now.

Getting closer, and now I know I am not up for any expensive parts, however I will keep my fingers crossed on this.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped, this is by far the most useful forum I have ever posted on.

                    Jamie.

Re: Carimali not quite working need help please

you can get diff flow rates a little and the flow meter should still give you the right amount of water assuming its working.

many of us here just pour shots by "sight" opting to press on and off regarldless of the volume set

and i personally mostly use the volumetric for cooling and cleaning flushes

good to hear its up and running a bit better makes me want another project even when i have to many.......
