They have the $$$ to afford the Alex Duetto and are prepared to pay for the performance and quality of the machine.
Have not regretted doing so either - its a wonderful machine.

Agreed shapeshifter, cheers to Chris for pointing out the flaws with the GS/3 so readily.  I was tempted by one but it was good to have Chris point out the ease with which they deform and become unusable.
    Thanks John,

The GS/3 is a good machine and I like mine for a whole host of reasons, however the chassis weakness led me to lose all confidence that any freight company was likely to deliver one in good condition, even though LM pack them pretty well.

Are they good value for money? Nope.  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
    Is support adequate? Nope.
    Chassis underdone? Yep.
Do they require regular service? Yep..

I know of a paddle group LM in a busy Melbourne cafe. They are replacing the viton o-rings in the group every 2 months and I have gone through 2 sets at home. In addition, the exhaust valve has a softener screen on the end of it to prevent splash into the driip tray. Despite frequent backwashing, mine was completely blocked within 10 months of home use. There is still work to do on this machine to make it deliver what it promises.

Thats sad Chris, but totally understandable. Lead time on LMs are foolish. Yes, new or additional national distributors are needed. I heard that since the GFC La Marz are only making to order.... well in that case the national distributors should stock up. Weak excuse I reckon, and frustration for those who are trying to put LMs in place. Having only 3 shipments a year is a joke.

In regards to GS3s vs anything else in the 3K-4.5K range or less theres no competition. GS3 blows them out of the water, thats a no brainer.
    Yeah YeeZa,

Its a joke on so many levels.

When a small operation like us can hold stock of a machine which is in the $4k range, the "were just a small operation so we cant afford to hold stock" excuses just dont cut it with me. In addition, the margins taken by the importer are very steep. I know it because I saw an invoice on a 2 gp Linea that I shouldnt have seen about 18 months ago. The importers allow us a margin less than that on a Expobar Office SA, which is ridiculous. There is no incentive to grow the brand :.

As for LM v e-61, I use both each day: I have a GS/3, but I use the Izzo all the time at the shed. God shot out of both is still a god shot and I really think youd have to have an amazing palate to call one as better.

I love my GS/3, but am under no illusion that its way more fragile than the Izzo (2 write offs for 5 sales) and that a big conical grinder will contribute to far more in the cup than a saturated group will.

Getting a bit off topic here fellas...

If you have your heart set on a La Marzocco, talk to Pedro at Coffeeparts. He will order one for you. He also keeps a vast range of consumables for all La Marzocco machines.

although i agree the minore is a very capable machine thats a very bold statement.

IMO the minore may suffer from some issues in the future around its high tech approach where many simple HX systems will keep on keeping on.

its horses for courses but, each to their own and time will tell.

shame about the GS3, Chris often talks about its issues when comparing against the others, but if service / parts are a issue it would be hard for him to sell with confidence and back it up.

Let me guess. You own a minore III, right? ;D

In answer to your question, its for the same reason we drive different cars. We are individuals who prefer, and value, different things.

trouble with the e61 remake is its just a hx machine not too different mechanically from any other e61 hx single group... so youre basically paying 2-3k just for looks alone...
