Good on ya, Chris! Good to hear.
The Cremina punches way above its weight. It is a pity that they are relatively expensive for their size and simplicity...as a result most people dismiss them as over-priced...and never get to try one. The truth of it is that due to their well-thought-out design and brilliant execution in manufacturing, they are more-or-less a lifetime investment.

Wow, wow, wow. Beautiful espresso on the second attempt and I really feel that this is the ultimate travel machine.
Much, much more playing to do and I 'm sure it's going to keep me fascinated for a long time.
They are exxy, but what a jewel! Love it already.

You also have the power to edit posts in the first 24 hours following their first posting...
Cremina owners with the anti-vac cap: does your cap bubble whilst the element is on?
It seems mine bubbles a lot whilst the tank is getting up to pressure, and then stops when it is at pressure, although occasionally it continues to bubble which makes me think it may not be working properly?
Also sometimes it bubbles whilst the element is on and getting the pressure up again. When I steam milk and the pressure starts to drop it starts bubbling again...
Any thoughts?

It reads bad and I do hope that those that were so rude have the decency to say sorry (online or offline).

Nevertheless, sees that you either purchased Paolos 2nd machine or found one and have now listed it to sell on the bay...
Looking forward to hearing some comments on your machine rather than a continuation of the earlier discussions. :-?

Before this turns into a (lets bash Coffeeparts thread) lets get one thing clear
If you would have read my post I did not criticise coffeeparts in the least. Indeed, I have been a customer of theirs for years and recently dropped over 4.5K there myself on new equipment. So, for the record, I think they provide an excellent service full stop. I for one will always shop there on-line and in person.
My only observation related to the way they handle one particular line of machines which make up a very niche market and to which they are not heavily committed. There was no criticism in this. It is a fact. In the best of all possible worlds, we would have a dealer like Londinium Espresso in London who actually know everything there is to know about Olympia machines; stock the full array of models and spare parts, and actually deliver the machines to your door and set them up for you in your kitchen at no extra cost. But we dont live in such a world, and I personally am sufficiently satisfied with the fact we can get the machines through Coffeeparts plus rely on their general coffee nous should service be required down the track.

Re: Olympia Cremina owners.......some advice needed
Before this turns into a (lets bash Coffeeparts thread) lets get one thing clear, as per their own statement, Coffeeparts is an online business,
"The inspiration behind Coffee Parts has evolved over the last two decades, and with modern technology becoming feasible, Coffee Parts was launched in 1999 to both the Australian market, and the world as a whole with the strong power of the internet. With the use of the latest technology in every field, and with the global business world becoming united with limited trade barriers, along with modern business concepts such as just in time stock management systems and computer based customer relationship management abilities, Coffee Parts has been able to become the leading internet based business for espresso coffee machine spare parts and accessories."

Coffeeparts is primarily an online business, they have an enormous range of coffee related products and their service is well above average, dont allow one negative report to persuade you otherwise.

Re: Olympia Cremina owners.......some advice needed
Hi Claraflo,
First it is good to see you back on the site, and second, I certainly think that some of the comments by other members earlier in this thread were inappropriate and uncalled for. Hopefully, those responsible are duly apologetic.
OK, so thats out of the way, on to the main point. I understand how you feel about your visit to Coffeeparts. When I bought mine there I didnt try the machine out because I already have an old one. The machines just sit on the counter cold. I do think they should use one of the machines for demo purposes, but apparently they dont because they are in such short supply and Olympia didnt give them a demo machine. Plus, I dont think they are all that savey when it comes to getting great coffee out of them. In this respect they definitely need to hone their skills on the Cremina.
And with all respect to Pedro and Coffeeparts, I dont think they are seriously in the business of moving many of these machines. (Indeed, I wonder whether Olympia themselves are seriously in the business of doing so, with their new make to order policy and regular increases in price in times of low inflation and economic hardship). Olympia simply do what they do and do it in their own way. The result is to turn out unique machines, in a fairly unique way (in todays manufacturing terms) and charge a hefty premium for doing so.
But regardless of Coffeeparts and Olympias attitude the the bottom line is that we do have a distributor in Australia who does sell these machines at about the lowest price anywhere in the world at the moment plus they do cover the machines with the official guarantee (which Im not sure applies to purchases overseas). For this, we Cremina-lovers should be relatively grateful. So, if you want to get a Cremina there does not seem to be any advantages to purchasing one overseas and importing it. You will pay as much and maybe more once you factor in postage and duties (unless you buy it and use it overseas and post it back to yourself). Plus you might have potential warranty issues (not that much can go wrong with these machines).
Still, if despite all this, you are dead against purchasing locally then I do suggest you do contact the London distributor for Olympia Express, Londinium Espresso. The owner Reiss Gunson is heavily committed to Olympia Express and is a real lever affectionado who regularly comments in coffee forums (especially home-barista, the forum where the best info on Creminas can be found). He might well be able to help you out.
Robert
