Hmm, this is helping make a good case for my upgrade to PID controlled boilers.

Quick update, the VBM DB continues to spoil me and Im amazed a what a couple of degrees difference makes to the taste of the espresso. After having a PID I dont think I could ever go back 8-).

    Hows the tank access?
Easy as. Cup warming try lifts off with the two handles and there it is. The cups can even be left on when you lift the tray off as the handles and back edge of the tray keep them from falling off.

Are steam & water valves the non-compression type?
    I have no idea.

Does it have a pre-infusion system?
Yes. There is passive pre-infusion as part of the e61 head design and if its plumbed in your line pressure provides pre-infusion. When plumbed you can directly control the duration of pre-infusion with the lever.

Taking a huge leap here, does anyone have anything to contribute on the "Vibiemme DomoBar Super Double Boiler PID"? eg pre-infusion, steam valve, tank, and other boring stuff about, you know, how it performs?

Or should I jump on facebook instead

Re: Vibiemme DomoBar Super Double Boiler PID

Australian specification VBM machines are all setup for Australian coffee and employ restrictors as required- so unless your machine has a problem Fred, you need only rinse.

As an aside, we really need to leave this discussion about cooling flush to other forums as new members can read single posts and get the wrong idea. Lets not contribute to misinformation...

Well configured machines are right to go and if the machine is not setup for Australian use, I cant see why youd want to make the job a whole lot more difficult by purchasing a hot runner. Incidentally, its not just about restrictors in HX machines. HX design is also critical.

As per earlier posts, there should be no need for restrictors in dual boiler machines.

Sorry finger probs I ment to say at end of post" inherent thermosyphoning .
Thermosyphon restrictor in the top inlet tube, therefore taking the size of the hole that feeds the group from ~5mm diameter to ~2mm. makes a big difference.

Sorry to hijack this thread but Beanbiken how have you set up your junior to not need a flush. It does not have an E61 group and therefore no inherent .
    Thanks

    Im drawing comparisons with the new Rocket R58 (and others) and if I could indulge in a couple more questions about the VMB DB PID III;

    Hows the tank access?
Are steam & water valves the non-compression type?
Does it have a pre-infusion system?

The ECA website (the actual importer) says 530mm for the Hx version.

    Confirming the Super DB dimensions: 270 (w) x 530 (d) x 410 (h).

Does the Super DB really sit that deep on the bench?
I know its deep - very deep. i am not sure that its actually 570mm.

Nice upgrade. The VBM is in my top 5 as Im looking to do the same and was wondering if anyone here could confirm the dimensions.

    The Talk Coffee specs say 270 x 570 x 410mm (WxDxH)

Does the Super DB really sit that deep on the bench?
