    Hi bennett,

I think that as you move up the price scale, the law of diminishing returns comes into play. All of these machines at default settings will produce very similar results (as will yours). The dual boilers let you play with temperature. That stated, many owners dont.

The benefit of dual boiler machines is the ability to play with boiler temperature which can assist if you're into hipster coffee or pretty dark roast.

There is much ot love about the VBM 2B and I reckon it's a terrific machine- albeit at a different standard of finish to the Rocket and Izzo.

Another option - whilst not a direct competitor out of left field but same price point would be the quickmill achille.
That's probably a discussion for another thread!

    Chris

        Rocket R58 dual boiler

I sent a quote form out recently looking for an evoluzione. Got an offer I couldn't refuse on the R58 and picked it up from a local sponsor today.

Thanks to all the sponsors that replied.

Took me a few shots to dial the super jolly E in as I'd changed it for my aeropress whilst I was machineless!

Loving the feel and the finish of the R58. Enjoying a lovely flat white at the moment too.

Steam power will take some getting used to, it seems much more powerful than the BDB I replaced. The better half loves the look of the rocket too so I don't cop sh$t about it taking up bench space (she's a tea drinker).......

Its so quiet compared to the breville too which is a popular thing as I'm a shift worker and make early morning espresso!

I am now just over a week in on my new R58, i have to say out of the box this is a fantastic machine.
I have upgraded from the Silvia, the step up in consistency and quality is outstanding and had given me confidence in my technique.
My next step in adjusting temp to gauge flavour profiles with varying roasts.
This is my first post after being a long time observer of the CS website. It has guided and educated me on my coffee journey.
I'd had to say no regrets on any of the machines, grinders that got me here.

A roaster is my next step.... probably the Behmor.

Just thought i'd share my thoughts, the machine is heating up as we speak.

Some happy snaps of the R58 with viewing sides... from HOST Milan...

It's a great tute in how to get it right if you really want to let people see inside!

Apols for the reflections which were impossible to manage with the lighting.

Andrew Meo explained that this machine has stainless boilers which will/may? be an option for 2014 which stainless pipework as well. Whether that means we will see it in Australia I am not so certain.
