Degreaser implies filthy car parts and a cocktail of poisonous organics.

Which is what I've always used to clean my machines shower screens, specifically Cafetto. No need for anything else, works a treat.

Still can't get the shower effect no matter what I do. Reseated the shower screen and C clip, it's in properly but still no shower. I've accepted it and moved on. It's coffee time 😀

              Hello Javabeen.
I had this problem last year. Have a look #124. July 5, 2014. I was absolutely annoyed as the proper shower is impressive - even more after seeing the "poor" version of a machine even much more expensive.

I am quite sure it is about excactly centering the shower screen to have a constant overlap around the edge
and it is additionally tricky depending which tool you are using.
Do you use a tool with straight or bend tips - 90° or 45°?

Best of all, it's simple to try for yourself, and if it's doesn't work, easy to remove again with no evidence left behind. The transparent vinyl I used is actually sold in stationary stores as protective covering for books !
Really thank you for that helpful and motivating feedback. It is seems to be much more adaptable to curved surfaces than I expected. I'll try it during next holiday time. Perhaps first with another testing piece.

                  • Off topic a bit but related to the leva.

Does anyone know of any cafes in melb that has a 3-group Izzo Gruppo Leva (the v2 Pompei) as their main machine? Curious to see them in action in a commercial setting.

                      • Car wrapping foil to color my Alex Leva

<<< I've never had any fit of upgrade-addiction. The only idea appearing from time to time is, how to get color on it (foil or powder coating? ). This would reduce the very large chrome surfaces and give it a more vintage touch. >>>

                          • We're about to have a go on our Alex Leva demo with powdercoat.

I'm thinking Ferrari red and am just trying to decide whether to do the front panel as well.

Custom is no problem on any of our gear- Powdercoat like our R58. Wood handles, knobs and toggles. Replacement of rotary steam valves with toggles.

These things are only only limited by your creativity (and wallet of course).

                            • The red and carbon looks very slick! Is the red a wrap?

Chris, sometimes if a machine is all one colour it can look a bit too "much"and lack contrast IMO. But I guess you have the chrome group and bits etc to give it some contrast. Maybe try some contact to quickly get an idea of the overall look.

                              Cheers

All of it is car wrapping foil:
                                Red = ORACAL 970, chili-red 371. Black = 3M 1080, black carbon fiber look.
The complicated part did a pro as I was afraid of the top corners. The overlap there is almost invisible.
Some easy spots of the main body (black below) I made myself.
I didn't want to transport the whole machine but only the side panels. With some trying on difficult local spots, you could do a lot.

As I was not sure which parts to put in color, an important point for me was "you can try" and if you don't like it - undo it. Additionally it is fast and quite cheap.
I will probably wrap the lever in red the next days. But it is also clear, that in the long term a powder coating would be more robust. This way the wrapping can be also an intermediate version - perhaps until the next color.
