As a relative newbie to the home barista scene, having literaly spent the last 5 years rocking the breville express, i'd appreciate some advice on upgrading to a good quality machine and grinder.
I am in the process of building a new house which will have a "standalone coffee bar" in the breakfast bar area... Obviously now is the time to decide how much bench space I require and get said details to the cabinet maker so we can ensure that plumbing integration etc occurs.
Budget wise... I'd like to stay sub $4k, but am open to all ranges of suggestions.
Use wise... I generally have 2 short blacks of a morning, 7 days a week, as well as the odd visitor and dinner party, so not requiring a 2 head or "commercial" quantity machine.
Looks wise... I would like to make the machine a feature in the area, so prefarably something big and shiny, not necesarily a brass soaring eagle, but something that people will go "wow, you've got your own cafe at home."
To be honest, all of my beans come from bean bay at present as I have found them to be the best option being Darwin based. After reading the forums, it would appear as though servicing and upgrade seem to be a regular occurence, being Darwin based, I would imagine my options are extremely limited and pricey, as such, quality is a must.
Any help and discussion in making my decision easy will be much appreciated,
Thank you,
