Hi Mal, reading the French grid and house wiring and supplies makes me soooo grateful I live in Oz with our very simple three pin plug system and sensible wiring,

Thanks all. I was careful to drain the tank, before it shipped and it's now sat for moths while I was away travelling, without moving, so any residual water shouldnt be a problem. Thanks for giving me a heads up on what I'm dealing with.
(Where are those gum boots and rubber gloves...)

I'd ensure the shaver adapter is rated to handle the 5-10A your machine might draw with the amount of Chinese crap around. I wouldn't up the fuse if the adapter is fused.
Check the water tank sensor is working so the pump will never run dry. Pretty surprised predominantly metal, high current appliance could be sold without an earth, but don't know Europe. It'd be hard to doubly insulate.
Also a RCD won't protect you if say water flooded both the active and neutral lines.

Earthing is to prevent damage to you, not the machine. If it has just arrived via air or sea freight, it is possible, however unlikely, that an electrical issue has developed or there is water somewhere it should not be. I would only use it with a two prong adapter, and then only briefly, if you can eyeball a safety switch or residual current device protecting the circuit you're connecting the machine to. Not sure how common they are in France or what they would be referred to as but often they are recognised by a 'test' button and a tripping current rating, normally ~30mA

Going 2 pronged (ungrounded) for a couple days?
Hi,
l've just moved from Oz to a rural area in France for a couple years and my Rocket Evo v2 and Mazzer have just arrived from Australia. I was going to plug them into an Aussie grounded power board and replace the plug with the local 3 prong equivalent (finding grounded Aussie --> French adapters locally has been a challenge), but realised I've forgotten to pick up the new plug.
It'll be a couple days before I'll be at the local DIY shop, so I'm wondering if there's much risk of damaging the machine by using an ungrounded shaver adapter for a couple days. I know it's a bad idea long-term, but is there any serious risk of damage in using the machine for a couple hours over 2 mornings?
Thanks for any wisdom!Tags: None
