Thanks very much for the information. I will be waiting to see how much it might cost too...

Connected Linea Mini

There's a thread over on home barista and it looks like the app and machines that use it are out in the wild. Apparently machines manufactured after November 2019 should be app enabled.
The Linea Mini features added:
Digital Temperature control in 0.1 degree increments
Auto on-off (programmable for each day of the week)
System standby (goes into power saving mode after a set time and needs to be "woken up")
Programmable pre-infusion (described below)
Wifi control (changes are made in the cloud so you can turn your machine on/off when you aren't home)
System status (current temps, on/off, shot time etc.)
Cost: People are being told ~$160USD from the sounds of it. Pretty reasonable
Preinfusion: You set an ON and an OFF time. It runs the pump (full speed) with the solenoid open for the ON time and then disengages the solenoid for the OFF time.

Looks good. Hopefully it won't be a major technical overhaul to get it to work with older minis. The only stand out features, for me, are the digital temp control and programmable pre-infusion, although it sounds like I could achieve the same pre-infusion by manually turning the paddle on and off at the start of the brewing sequence before brewing normally. Do I understand that correctly?

If it's that cheap I assume it's just something that plugs into the main board, not a replacement for the control board itself.Originally posted by Pretzal View PostLooks good. I'm still a little confused about that really. I think the difference is that the pump is left on in the app implementation? Maybe turning the switch off allows the water in the brew chamber to escape?
It now ships with it at zero cost. Don't think there were any app controlled coffee machines floating around in 2015 but I could be wrong.Originally posted by Caffeinator View PostWhat the machine should have originally shipped with and at zero cost.
Preinfusion is an improvement, but I'll take Rick's version which includes a real paddle.
I'm sure everyone would prefer Rick's version, or a version with the pump replaced with a gear pump, or it to be replaced with a single group slayer or something but it's not really the point. Not everyone lives in Melbourne and has the extra grand or so (can't remember price) to get Rick to mod a machine for them.
Maybe someone will jailbreak the app and figure out a way to make it work with a gear pump so you can get pressure/flow profiling or at least a proper pre-infusion.

Rick's mod = Slayer killerOriginally posted by Pretzal View PostI'll definitely be evaluating this against Ricks mod but I hear it might take some arm twisting to get his mod installed
I think the Rocket R60V was close to being around but in all generosity, the app rated about 3/10 for mine...Originally posted by mthomas87 View PostDon't think there were any app controlled coffee machines floating around in 2015 but I could be wrong.

That's pretty optimistic.Originally posted by mthomas87 View PostI posted above that some people in the US had been quoted ~$160USD. Not sure what it will be here but I'd guess ~$200
US160 = AU250
then add AU50 because LM Australia are LM Australia +10% GST and you will be closer to double the US number.
