Pretty much everything I've seen from La Marzocco Home is cheaper here than over there.
e.g plumbing kit for linea mini is $150USD in the US and $180AUD here

That's pretty optimistic.Originally posted by mthomas87 View PostI posted above that some people in the US had been quoted ~$160USD. Not sure what it will be here but I'd guess ~$200
US160 = AU250
then add AU50 because LM Australia are LM Australia +10% GST and you will be closer to double the US number.

The new app is live now. Has anyone heard anything about price and availibility? Just about to email them...

Rick's mod = Slayer killerOriginally posted by Pretzal View PostI'll definitely be evaluating this against Ricks mod but I hear it might take some arm twisting to get his mod installed
I think the Rocket R60V was close to being around but in all generosity, the app rated about 3/10 for mine...Originally posted by mthomas87 View PostDon't think there were any app controlled coffee machines floating around in 2015 but I could be wrong.

If it's that cheap I assume it's just something that plugs into the main board, not a replacement for the control board itself.Originally posted by Pretzal View PostLooks good. Hopefully it won't be a major technical overhaul to get it to work with older minis. The only stand out features, for me, are the digital temp control and programmable pre-infusion, although it sounds like I could achieve the same pre-infusion by manually turning the paddle on and off at the start of the brewing sequence before brewing normally. Do I understand that correctly?
I'm still a little confused about that really. I think the difference is that the pump is left on in the app implementation? Maybe turning the switch off allows the water in the brew chamber to escape?
It now ships with it at zero cost. Don't think there were any app controlled coffee machines floating around in 2015 but I could be wrong.Originally posted by Caffeinator View PostWhat the machine should have originally shipped with and at zero cost.
Preinfusion is an improvement, but I'll take Rick's version which includes a real paddle.
I'm sure everyone would prefer Rick's version, or a version with the pump replaced with a gear pump, or it to be replaced with a single group slayer or something but it's not really the point. Not everyone lives in Melbourne and has the extra grand or so (can't remember price) to get Rick to mod a machine for them.
Maybe someone will jailbreak the app and figure out a way to make it work with a gear pump so you can get pressure/flow profiling or at least a proper pre-infusion.

There's a thread over on home barista and it looks like the app and machines that use it are out in the wild. Apparently machines manufactured after November 2019 should be app enabled.
The Linea Mini features added:
Digital Temperature control in 0.1 degree increments
Auto on-off (programmable for each day of the week)
System standby (goes into power saving mode after a set time and needs to be "woken up")
Programmable pre-infusion (described below)
Wifi control (changes are made in the cloud so you can turn your machine on/off when you aren't home)
System status (current temps, on/off, shot time etc.)
Cost: People are being told ~$160USD from the sounds of it. Pretty reasonable
Preinfusion: You set an ON and an OFF time. It runs the pump (full speed) with the solenoid open for the ON time and then disengages the solenoid for the OFF time.

They added a "preview" video. Still nothing terribly concrete

cf on HB forums posted this:
Following back up on this thread.
According to an article from Daily Coffee News it looks like the App is scheduled to roll out in March 2020. Again, looks like we'll be able to modify brew temperature, on/off time, and pre-infusion.Guglielmino said the app is particularly impactful for the Linea Mini, as it unlocks an array of capabilities that were previously not controllable by users. Owners of the setup will be able to skip the click-wheel thermostats and set and monitor the temperature digitally, to a tenth of a degree; adjust the preinfusion parameters; set a wake-up/heat-up and shut-off timer, and more.https://dailycoffeenews.com/2020/01/06/ ... busy-2020/
The Home IoT app will launch in March 2020, according to Guglielmino. Also in 2020, the company will be rolling out a hands-free milk steaming machine, and upgraded versions of both the GB5 and Strada commercial espresso machines, all of which were displayed at HOST in 2019 and none of which will be discussed publicly until closer to their respective launches.
My only question reading that is the App is specifically mentioned for launching in March 2020, but I wonder when the updated Mini with the IoT functionality will start selling. Hopefully at the same time.
A lot of questions have been asked about pre-infusion that I've been reading up on. Some people are concerned that the pre-infusion is just extending the one-second dwell time to something longer, not really allowing more volume of pre-infusion water to hit the puck. From reading LM's responses on their post about this on Instagram and their own website, it seems that pre-infusion with the app will make the Mini pre-infusion work like GS3 AV pre-infusion. According to LM that works like the following.
From LM employee on instagrami_am_fabri17https://www.instagram.com/p/B32eI-MI2gV ... _copy_link
@anthonysonstein you can set the the preonfusion time and delay, just like you would do on a gs3 av, but now you can do it on the mini and via the app...the water flow and pressure cannot be changed
From LM's website on GS3 AV preinfusionThe AV also has a few more bits of functionality thanks to the electronics. First, the ability to program pre-infusion times into each button. Say you'd like to program pre-infusion into your shot, the AV allows you to tell the machine, for example, to pre-infuse for 4 seconds, rest for 5 seconds, then begin brewing. Whether plumbed-in or using the reservoir, pre-infusion is accomplished by quickly engaging the pump for 1-5 seconds (adjustable for each AV preset), then disengaging for 1-5 seconds, then engaging the pump for brewing, which is able to replicate a smooth pre-infusion pressure curve.https://home.lamarzoccousa.com/demystif ... -mp-or-av/
Hope this helps!

Yes- something has changed. Have a read amongst the earlier posts. As of 31 January, the reseller code gets you a 0% discount.Originally posted by mrvautin View PostUnless something has changed, you get a discount for entering a reseller code.
How so when it's about to be for sale via a discount box seller?but I feel they are "trying" to build some exclusivity and own the whole process of getting you the machine etc.
Yep- downright arrogant IMHO- but that's not new for them. I'm wondering if they conduct themselves this poorly in other countries?Originally posted by kofekitt View PostWell, that's very disappointing...
If @home was working, they wouldn't need to give it to a box seller which is not in the aftersales service or support business.
LM is not setup to do service or support other than in the major capitals. If their so-called "partners" were to show the middle digit to the service and repair jobs which LM would have them do, the decision would be pretty well justified.Last edited by Caffeinator; 13 January 2020, 01:53 PM.
