  • Freestyle picking a Gaggia 2 Group Lever

Hi there - I have come across a machine in a closed shop that has sat idle for 40 years. I couldn't take photos, but I think a 2 group version of what you see below. It has a square (not bubble perspex surround for the cup warmer). Its not looking great, but appears to all be there. I've approached the owner and made an initial offer which was rejected. He doesn't seem to appreciate what he's got ... but also wouldn't sell ... I couldn't even get him to name a price.

I'm keen to make a further offer with cash in hand to see if I can tempt him.

I can't get to the machine to take a look at the insides ... so must assume its in need of full rebuild.

The question is, what would such a machine be worth in such a state. I can manage some works myself, but to do it justice I'll likely need to reserve some budget to engage Rick Bond or someone to help me ... so don't want to blow the budget completely before restoration commences!

Did you manage to convince him to sell?
