I own a DE after a few E61s including a Rocket Giotto. Spare parts are readily available from DE and generally arrive in about a week and the machine is very repairable. If you have a problem one of the technicians and/or head engineer will guide you through replacing the part either by direct conversation or sending a video. As a last resort or if you don't feel confident doing it yourself you can send it to a service center in Brisbane which I believe no Aussie has had to do. I was concerned about support when deciding to buy one of these but I don't feel that way now. I actually think that the support is better even on trivial matters. You can post a problem anytime of the day and technicians, engineers, other experts and even the CEO might reply. I remember my Rocket Fausto grinder had a fault and I took it to where I bought it and it was sent interstate to get fixed and returned in about 8 or 9 days. I don't see a difference between this and DE's service. The worst part was buying a $5000 machine without seeing it in the flesh. This went against every buying experience I've had with this sort of money but I have no regrets. Functionality is phenomenal.
If you're not concerned about pressure or flow profiling then an ECM Synchronica is a great choice and you can get a manually controlled flow control device later although you can't save your shots.

Not knowing a thing about the DE1+, I'll say that one thing to keep in mind is repairability and access to spare parts

Impressed you have two LSM levers as decorations in your kitchen!

I followed the development of the Decent from the start and really appreciated the passion John had and the ideas, but the style was never going to be me. Also manufacturing is hard and it takes time to iron out things and find quality suppliers - even my Decent milk jugs quickly lost parts of their black coating.

I have had a Synchronika for a month now - style and panel quality was a predominant decider for ECM, then the Sync for reasons I noted in its thread. I also have two La San Marco lever groups as decorations in the kitchen so it fit that look. I will add flow control at some stage, but just feel the ball knob looks out of place.

I do steam and brew at the same time and feel it would become too much of a process not having that ability.

    ECM Synchronika vs Decent DE1+?

Hello! I want to buy one of these machines. I was dead set on the ECM Synchronika (with or without flow control) until I started reading about the DE1+. I dislike the looks of the DE1+ (it looks like a toy) as well as the strange noises it makes. Of course there's the fact that it doesnt brew and steam at the same time, though I usually dont do that anyway. I have been thinking about this for a couple weeks and really have no idea what to do. Would be great to hear from owners who have/had both types of machines. I appreciate any help!
