  • Best mobile coffee van machine??

    Hi all,

We are in the process of purchasing a mobile coffee van and I would like to know everyone's thoughts on the best coffee machine to put in it. We've been quoted on an Expobar Mega Creme High Group 2 group machine. Are they any good and is there a better alternative? I've been told that certain machines don't like been shaken whilst travelling? Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Had a mobile coffee van 20 years ago in Perth WA. 3 group Rancilio that was Gas & Electric fired (quite common in Italy apparently) also had one of the largest boilers in its class.

My recommendation is go BIG ... countless times we would see other vans with smaller machines struggling to keep up. When your at a venue and you have a constant line up of customers the last thing you need is a machine that can't cope. Very rarely used 3 group heads at once but the advantage was having that big boiler.

    Good luck with your adventure.

    Cheers Mark

Not experienced in van setups but depends on your design/power setup.

Fracino sells lpg machines which can lower your power requirements.

Expobar and a few other brands have some compact two groups which run off 10 amps but may mean slower heatup times.

Go for something with a big boiler (10 litres or more) so it doesn't run out of steam and the heavy E61 group head rather than the lighter E64 for temperature stability. One for your short list is the Lelit Giulietta. It's "full size" on the inside but reasonably compact at 58cm wide.

It’s a good bang for buck machine too.
