  • Identifying the manafacture date of my Giotto Rocket

Have always loved the Giottos but only came across the beauty recently.

Giottos have a very potted history which includes models which are not considered to be 'authentic'.

So i was wanting to see if I could identify where in the history time line my machine falls.

I have attached pictures to assist but i am also aware there should be a date on the inside some where. Is this correct and where would i find it?

Thanks in advanceClick image for larger version Name:	giotto 4 (2).jpg Views:	13 Size:	279.2 ** ID:	863312

The first four digits of the serial number should tell you the year. I think from memory the label can be seen behind the drip try but I can tell you it is a Rocket Giotto Premium Plus V1 manufactured around 2008.

Thanks for that. Much appreciated. No number behind the drip tray. Will have a look inside.

Yep Rocket Giotto Premium Plus V1 serial number on bottom and can confirm first 4 numbers are the year. I have that exact machine

Just wondering why did you pick Giotto out of the other Rocket range? how does it compare to the others?

Flying18, my Giotto Premium Plus V1 is over 8 years old now and it was a present to me by my wife. It has a vibrating pump and no real bells or whistles. Just a straight forward work horse that hasn't mised a beat, still works very good and I can make delicious, well extracted coffee.

Rocket has made a number of similar machines with vibrating or rotary pumps and with other bells and whistles under different names. My dad has a Rocket Giotto V Cronometro espresso Coffee Machine and it's pretty much the same as mine 8 years later.

In my own opinion, unless you want to change the pump pressure, or plumb one in, or stabilise the temperature with a PID they all share most of the same parts and you can make just as delicious coffee on the older ones as you can on the newer ones - new ones just appear to have more bells and whistles. Happy to be stood corrected by other Snobs if I am missed something.

I totally agree with you Grumpybarista. It is a workhorse which makes lovely coffee as it is. I actually like the simplicity of the thing.

I have a Premium Plus V2 with the dual dials, mine is a 2013 model which I think is when they were introduced. Based on some googling the Premium Plus V1 was released in 2008, that would place that machine 2008-2012 (or early 2013).

Lovely machines and still enjoying it 3 years on.

Has yours got the PID as well or just dual dials? Maybe the PID was v3

No PID just an internal pressure stat. I can't recall if PID was an option on this version.
