  • Rocket Evo V2

    Hey all,
I woke up this morning and switched on the rocket to heat up.
came back 20 minutes later to find out that it didn’t heat up at all.
light on, pumps water when operated but no heat.

help please to troubleshoot before I send to the shop, I’m comfortable with pulling the lid and using tools, multimeter etc

    cheers

    T

    Anyone have any opinions?

Tested the element, approx 43 ohms resistance, so I think ok

I don't know your machine, and I'm assuming you or a licensed electrician is doing all the following.

Have you checked there is power at the machine and it's getting through the main switch to the control board?

Is it tripping the Rcd in your meter box? Or just not heating?

It is possible your PID has failed or may need to be reset. This is what turns your heating element on/off.

Just trying to help the helpers but the Evo 2 uses a Sirai pressurestat……
I’m certainly not qualified to give advice……

May well have just overheated and tripped the resettable thermostat. I'd check that first.

Hi mate. If you’re sure the element is ok, it’s either the safety thermostat (see if either of the two buttons have popped out), control board or pressurestat.

New control boards are pricey but the parts that go are very cheap and easy to repair if you know how.

                Thanks all,

No I’m not an electrician but do have my disconnect licence and am comfortable testing components, a fitter by trade and have rebuilt numerous servo valves, pumps, motors, cylinders etc.

I reset the safety thermostats, powered up the machine and could hear the pressure stat switch and the element fire up.

I operated the lever and ran water through the group and watched the water drop in the res, but was nervous that the boiler wasn’t full.
so I disconnected the low water sender to trick the pump and she came on, so assumed that this is ok.

started up the machine, heated up and had a coffee, ran some hot water and then low level activated the pump.

All good now, thanks again, it’s been a great machine for that last 5-6 years and was gutted when it didn’t heat up!
