Have you checked whether the fill solenoid is receiving voltage when it is meant to fill? With any luck it is receiving voltage but not actuating which would likely be a burnt out coil, cheap to fix.

Thanks for the assistance folks. Using the manual boiler fill button is keeping her running and me functional in the mornings, but not sure how long that can last - to my untrained eye it looks like just a physical plunger-type mechanism which bypasses the solenoid / water distributor so the boiler fills on the mains water pressure while I hold the button in. Can't see the seals on that holding up for too much repeat use on a 20+ year old machine...

The probe acts to turn the pump off when it detects boiler full. If the pump isn't even starting you have a problem elsewhere.

If that machine uses an autofill controller that's the likely source. If the pump runs when the button is pushed the pump relay is probably OK so it highlights the microcontroller on the board as the most likely culprit.

As far as I am aware that cannot be fixed.

I've pulled the level probe out - thin metal rod encased in some sort of plastic except for the bottom tip. There's a bit of discolouration under the plastic, and I cant remove that plastic to clean it, but gave the bottom tip a scrub.
No luck on the filling though, and no filling with the probe disconnected either - not sure if that would be expected and indicates a problem elsewhere?

    Faema Due Boiler Fill Problem

Hi folks, just after a bit of advice to point me in the right direction. I've got an old Faema Due at home, which I picked up cheap and cleaned up a few years back. Recently developed a leak around the sight glass, so I've had it turned off for 2 weeks while finding some time to take it apart and then waiting for parts. Re-installing the sight glass seemed very straightforward, and I was expecting it to just fire up as soon as I turned it on, but sadly no...
The boiler isn't filling, and isn't even trying to. The pump will run and pour cold water from the group if I push a button, but it doesn't run to re-fill the boiler. So to me it looks like the message that the boiler is low/empty is not getting through somehow?
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated.

Working...
