  • Vibiemme Domobar Spr Digital vs Bezzera Duo vs ECM Synchronika vs Rocket Cinquantotto

Doing my research for my retirement machine and have narrowed down to the above options. Has anyone had experience with the VBM? I want a PID machine, easy to use and with an option to plumb in future. Have concerned with things with LCD panels (Bad Breville experience way way back). Please those of you that have any other the above can you give me your opinion.

I've had a Bezzera Duo DE for nearly 10 months now and am absolutely delighted with it. Prior to that I owned a Bezzera Magica and prior to that I had a Bezzera BZ99. So I have been very happy with the brand.

The Duo DE is a cut above my previous machines. The touchscreen works flawlessly, no issues at all and provides great control over the machine, e.g. set temperatures separately for brewing and steam, auto-clean programs. I love having volumetric control and would not like to go back to a manual machine now. I find the BZ head system with built-in heating elements much better than the HX system of the Magica. And with no drain pipe under the head (and of course no activating lever) there is more space on the tray and a much cleaner look. The LED light under the head is another useful feature that I would not want to be without. The two boilers are not large so the machine is very fast to heat up from a cold start.

Importantly, it makes great espresso, consistently.

Millzy you haven't included the Izzo Vivi.... might be beneficial.
FWIW as its going to be a long term keeper, I'd drill down to the brand /quality / longevity of the 'fitments' such as the PID, valves ( spring loaded non crush vs threaded type) pump, OVP etc.as well as the general stuff.

For some of the machine(s) in recent times generally lauded here for quality etc. show up to soon and often with repetitive issues that don't on the surface appear to line up with their general market reputation.

Concur with the above from Pete Bezzera's under rated particularly on their service life & shot ability.
Report back your findings, helpful for others.

Thank you that is great feedback. I am worried with the VBM LCD screen as in my experience they usually have the problems!

Goodluck in your decision, I was weighing up the pro 700 or ecm sync. The bezerra didn't tickle my fancy with its tech at all, so I never considered it on my list at all. I was so in awe with the build quality behind ecm and how they were rated by anyone I spoke with. They have an impressive ease of service I have been told. I'm a month and a half in owning a sync and I would never look back. My partner unreluctantly allowed me to get this machine, as I justified this being the machine I will have for hopefully decades to come. Enjoy whichever machine you buy, you want it to be the one you look back at when you walk away from it

The VBM allows pressure profiling and has an exxy gear pump to boot. It can do things that no Bezzera can. The slots in the sides keep the internals cool and will help contribute to component longevity.

The Duo appears really underdone in steam boiler capacity to me and the looks to be sitting adjacent to the boiler/s- but I have not seen one in the metal. Another square box IMHO.
