Yes Brian, its a tap to bypass the filling valve and fill the boiler. Not normally needed, even if your filling the machine from empty, as you would just turn the power to position 1 and the boiler will fill without heating. But its always handy to know what it does

After doing some more searching, I think I've found out what the valve in the off position is. I believe it's the manual filling valve for the boiler. Always off unless the boiler needs to be manually refilled. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No, I believe it's correct. Looks like someone has plumbed the boiler drain directly to a white waste pipe, where does that white corrugated pipe lead to? It doesn't seem to have a drain cup like most which catches all waste water.
The other tap leads from the boiler fill solenoid to the boiler (the solenoid is under the metal box). Not entirely sure what purpose that serves other than to shut off flow to the boiler in the case of a faulty valve or to run the machine on manual boiler fill only (if it has a manual fill valve, I can't remember if these do).

So the tap currently closed needs to be open & the tap currently open needs to be closed?

Brian as follows -
At 1o'clock pointing down to the bench is the main inlet cock. currently closed.
At 3 oclock down to its right is service line to boilers. currently open.
At bottom left of pic approx 8 o'clock is the boiler drain as Noidle22 correctly commented on.
You can see Its purposely had the cock handle removed so that it cant be accidently / wrongly opened.
Suggest you Dont overlook seeking out the optimum filtration to suit your areas water.
Worth checking before putting into service that the flow sensors and gicleur's are clean and serviceable.
Cheers

One should have a line directly to the drain bowl, this is the boiler drain pipe. This tap is closed all the time during normal use.
Can't remember what the other tap is for but pretty sure it's open all the time.

Thanks but I'm fine with that.
I ran my own Coffee van for 4yrs doing markets & businesses in my area but always had my machine professionally serviced. I never paid any attention to the internals to be honest. My machine in the van was a 2 group Wega Atlas compact

tap 90deg to line = closed
tap inline with pipe = open.
Im almpst certain you'll be back soon asking how to 'set' the brew buttons !

Wega Atlas
Hi guys.
I scored myself an ex Cafe Wega Atlas 2 group & have a question. When I took out the drip tray, it has two inline taps, one in the front & one at the back. The front one is in the horizontal position which I assume is on, the back one is vertical so assume that's turned off.Are they both meant to be in horizontal position, on? I can't upload pictures just yet
Ceers.
