Would have thought so. If it's dry now and operating fine then you are good to go. (Brilliant machine too - had one earlier this year and loved it)

Happy to leave the thread so you can post an update after talking to the supplier.
As above, it's very likely it was just a bit of water left after testing, doesn't need to be much to make a mess!
I think I'd prefer to get that than a machine that wasn't bench tested before delivery.

This is the driest continent, so there is no issue with the water evaporating. Low voltage electrical cables pass through a water bath after extrusion, so it will not harm them at all. Coffee machines are built with the expectation that they will come into contact with water (they do store and heat it).
Let it thoroughly dry, no harm done.
Enjoy the machine, it looks well built.

Very rarely an issue. Machines get drowned all the time and they dry out perfectly 99%. When it's an issue is when people soften butter on the top and then forget- or just as nasty, honey.

Sadly, happens more often than you'd think. Agreed with Andy, chat to the seller who has inadvertently made a mistake in busy times. The message will likely be profuse apologies, let it dry out and if there's an issue, call. There almost never is.

Thanks, Andy. In that case, do you mind deleting this thread? I'll talk to the supplier privately about my concerns.

Please talk with the supplier, far better than asking questions from us about safety concerns.

I too suspect it's fine but it's the seller you should be talking to first. The community will be good help getting the best from your new machine after that.

Thanks, Tom! So would it be safe to say that my machine should be okay from the leak?

I would assume the water is from testing the machine which is the practice of resellers after receipt of the machine and before shipping. That would not be a surprise but failing to empty and dry the tank would be a regrettable but non damaging mistake.

Thanks for the response Mono. Unfortunately, the driver took the box away and carried the machine to my house so I wasn't able to take a picture of the box (looks like he was trying to get rid of the evidence). I was overly excited and wasn't thinking properly. I have attached a photo of where the water tank is placed however and you can see it is completely wet. I have emailed the supplier (who is a sponsor on this forum) and spoken to the owner on the phone. He said the machine is under a 1-year warranty and that the water leak shouldn't cause any damage as the electronics are located on top of the machine. I am not sure if I should believe him tbh.

Did you take images of the wet box/machine? Did you get in touch with your supplier to let them know? If no images the box should be still wet or showing the signs of it, give your supplier a call so it at least can be documented and record who and when……

I just watched the following video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ydGHhyvjHg) and there is wiring on the bottom half where the PID controller is located.

Received ECM Technika with box leaking water

    Hello

My Technika arrived today and the bottom of the box was completely soaked with water. I understand it is standard practice to test/calibrate machines before delivery but it was pretty obvious the shop I ordered from didn't drain the tank when they shipped the machine which resulted in the massive spillage from the bottom of the machine. I checked the top of the machine and it was dry.

I pulled my first shot just before and the machine worked fine, no issues as of yet. I am wondering if I should be concerned if the spill may have impacted the machine? I was told the electronics are located at the top of the machine so the water leaking from the bottom end should not have caused any damage? I regret taking it now as it is playing with my head and felt I should have told the driver to load it back to the van...

    Thank you,
    E
