Thank you so much for responding - yes that sounds like it describes the problem precisely. Do you by chance know of any other brand of handle that shares Rocket’s wing size?

Without going right throught it - and put your OEM handle side to side with the Pesado and youll see the variations - - Lug posn/length -Ramping face of the lugs to the seating face of the handle* - Ramp Angle / depth of Ramp* The two * will likely be your issue(s) based on your post. etc etc it can be a minefield, particuarly if the retailer only sees $ PS get a naked handle whilst your at it!
Thank you so much - this is excellent information!

No need to change the seal it if only 6 months old (unless you bought the machine second hand) . You could try the Pesado with a 8mm silicon group seal. Are you using the Rocket filter basket that came with the machine? If the Cafelat handle comes with its own basket, you could try the Rocket one instead to see if it fits better.

I mentioned this on the forum but no one else reported the same problem.
About 6 months. I can’t believe that the seal needs to be replaced/swapped already, surely? The oem filter handle seats nicely, you can feel the seal give just slightly as it tightens up right at the 6 o’clock mark. The Pesado portafilter, however, I really have to try hard to get it to even the 6:35 mark.

Not sure, whatever came standard on the machine. Seems like increasing the seal thickness would make it worse though? In any case, I’d hope it wouldn’t be that much trouble - surely there must be other Rocket owners that have changed portafilters?

started a topic Replacement portafilter for Rocket Giotto R

Replacement portafilter for Rocket Giotto R

A little while ago I purchased Pesado portafilter as a replacement for the pf that came with my Rocket machine, but it has turned out to be pretty much unusable.
it takes an unreasonable amount of effort to secure the portafilter tightly enough in the group so that it will not rotate back out all by itself when brewing. Man, what a mess, wet coffee everywhere. I know it is ‘supposed’ to fit, as it’s an E61, right? Well, the lugs on that head just do not fit perfectly with my Rocket. I contacted the retailer, who told me to just turn the handle harder, and although this does ‘work’ it is not a practical solution - it needs to be pressed in so firmly as to cause the machine to hop a little on the bench. There is no way even an experienced user would feel the need to secure the pf this tightly without being forewarned.
so I’ve relegated the Pesado handle to the back of the cupboard, but would still like to replace the Rocket pf handle, as I really don’t like the position of the spouts.
Can anyone recommend a replacement that works well with the Rocket?
    Thanks!
Working...
