  • Service recommendations Profitec Brisbane

Can't find anything onsite re service recommendations so I will ask. I get my Profitec 700 serviced regularly, I don't have an issue with the service agent except its a bit of a trek for me from Brisbane and as they are only open office hours I have limited opportunities to make the trip during a work week, so I end up being without the machine for a week or two. I have tried to find somewhere closer without success.

Any Profitec (or ECM) owners in Brisbane with a local recommendation? I am on the Northside 5k from CBD.

    Thanks

(mods please move if there is a more appropriate subforum)

Neli Coffee Clontarf are authorised repair dealers. Great coffee beans and good prices with very friendly service too.

Contact Jetblack Espresso - they're Profitc importers and they might work with someone in Brisbane.

            Hi everyone,

While researching for a new place to get our machine serviced next time this came up in the search result set, so we joined. We have a Profitec Pro 700 that we have had for a little over 3.5 or so years & it just got serviced for the second time. We had the original PID replaced because a small bit of the black plastic on the edge corner cracked & fell off. So, it was replaced with the V2 version (much nicer looking with the slightly higher stance out from the machine & the silver edging/frame) which must be paired with the higher 2.5 bar safety valve. A number of other things we replaced as part of the service (which is fine) including the shower in the group head. However, this has changed the brew & coffee extraction result as well as the midpoint stop position.

Now, there is no midpoint stop before pre-infusion/wetting. Water just starts dripping at the midpoint stop position that never used to before. The midpoint stop is about 7 o'clock before a slight lift towards 9 o'clock before the valve opens on the pump that allows water through the head to pre-infuse/wet the cake in the basket before extraction - we have never used the pre-infusion only the midpoint stop but the servicing agent said it was in pre-infuse position. When we spoke to the servicing agent on the phone to understand the differences, without even been asked what the ticket number was to determine what had been done during the service, they outright accused us of maybe damaging our machine in transit. As apparently customers do that.

For the next service we will be looking for a place that values customer service/experience. Our first service was a much better experience even with our questions. Even if we get to have a satisfying conversation with the current servicing agent where they help is understand why there is a difference and what we need to change in our process to get the same extraction & taste experience we have been used to since our purchase., we are not sure we want to give them any more of my money or our custom moving forward.

Can anyone recommend a servicing place based in their satisfaction/experience please? We are in 4121.

Also, just quickly has anyone had their V1 PID changed to a newer version with the 2.5bar safety valve? I am not sure if the hole count/size in the shower is different or if the PID/2.5bar safety valve combo has changed the amount of water now coming through the group head during extraction or not. I know we'll probably need to change subtle things like the tamp pressure, grind to a maybe a finer one, or alter the OCD coffee distributor depth pre-tamp etc. but the crema quality & extraction is different now with the doppio's compared to what we extracted prior to this service. The beans are the same as is the grind from before it went into service - it was only there for 3 days. It's been so long since we programmed the PID that I can't remember if there was an eco-mode that switched the machine off on the old PID or not. I've removed it now (or again lol) - I'm not going to look up the manual as I've easily resolved that situation. ?

            Cheers
            Us/-

Did they change the group cam in the service?
I doubt the change of pid & safety valve will change the water flow, perhaps they descaled the machine which will return the water flow to standard.

Is your machine plumbed or tank?

What did you use the "mid point stop" for if not for pre-infusion?

If plumbed then some machines have that pre midpoint gap where the valves open to allow pre-infusion at mains water pressure before the pump engages.
It is possible that the service center has correctly adjusted the micro switch behind your "lever" and it now activates the pump.
It is a five minute job to re-adjust the microswitch so it engages slightly later.

                  Hi,

It isn't plumbed at this point so we can't do pre-infusion. I don't have an issue leaving the handle @ 6 o'clock (down), it's just that we have always had it at the midpoint stop position with no leaks. Now it simply doesn't exist. The videos i watched on pre-infusion all have a midpoint stop with no leaking.
It is more that nothing was explained after the service and why the behaviour is different plus being accused of damaging it in transit. I read the manuals on the Eco mode is for the V2 version of the P700 & didn't exist with the older PID.
The service sheet doesn't mention about the group cam at all. "Clean Group Head, Change Group Seal & Shower, Service Taps, Clean Steam Arm, Clean Water Level Sensors, Check for Faulty Components" there is a longer list of activities performed but no mention of the group cam thanks Ronin .
I have looked at how far away Crema Coffee Garage (closest) & Neli Coffee Clontarf & neither are excessively far from here.
