We are blessed (maybe not the right word haha?) to have such solid consumer guarantees here to be sure.

I'm very familiar with statutory laws and have a good amount of experience in arguing with recalcitrant warrantors; it's just an experience I would rather avoid .

John I get your point - but I also consider warranty is one of those things you can ignore until you need it; an opinion shaped by my experiences as an advocate doing pro-bono work for people who are being shafted.

The mitigating factor here I guess... which you highlight nicely as a reminder thank you is that such a machine is eminently serviceable and repairable by design; worst case I'm just replacing the part that goes pop.

Your experience is that it's quite fine to achieve in a home workshop?

I think my concern likely becomes more valid when pursuing some of the emergent machines like the Decent or others with far more extensive and expensive electronic components where troubleshooting an error can become much more challenging not just expensive.

Likewise. Australian Consumer automatically overrides any of their smug BS.

My thoughts are that they want to take the whole shebang back and sell solely via @home. If that's so, they can't sidestep consumer law unless a user deliberately tried to damage a machine.

i think you are worrying about nothing mate. I have had my GS3 for close to 4 years now and it hasnt missed a beat. I service it myself as per the service requirements, which is very easy to do and the parts are very easy to get.
As for resale, seeing what else has sold recently, your resale will still be very good
    Just enjoy the machine.
As for water filters, i have been using the brita purity c150 finest from day one (which is recommended for S/S boilers) and no signs of any scale build up in my machine

I was informed LaMarzoco are being super stingy on warranty and denying people fair entitlement based on not using a specific type of water filtering.

Can anyone confirm if this is still happening? When I factor in the 3rd party remarks about the Home sections manager and attitude it doesn't give me much confidence in buying into the LM brand. I'm quite strong on my values when it comes to warranted rights and supporting brands that provide quality, respectful through life support.

Agreed. I have very little respect (rounded to zero) and a similar amount of trust for the shoe salesman and his @home buddies.

There is no way of confirming with 100% certainty what I was told , unless I went into their offices and did an audit. But I should have asked for the manufacture date before it was posted. If I can save any new buyers a similar experience then it’s worth putting it out there. A $10k machine is a big investment and it’s not unreasonable to expect the best longevity and resale value as possible.

Boolsheet (I suspect). There were times last year when they had no stock of Linea Mini and to the best of my recollection, the GS3 as well. I believe that one about as much/far as the wrecked machine could have been thrown by the courier.

I have a response from La Marzocco that the original and replacement machines are from the same batch. They said the machines can sit on shelves and can be over a year old for a Linea Mini. So will have to suck this up.
My advice to any potential new buyers, who are concerned about manufacture date is to get a written confirmation date PRIOR to delivery and order from somewhere else if not happy. Unfortunately I missed the boat this time, but lesson learned.

had to use app for on and off time setting. it is a useful feature.

i always wanted to use a gs3 and in my experience manual control is not relevant so i figured control variables and get the AV.

i find profiling to be above my pay grade. at my level good coffee is about basics more than last few % point optimisation. i had walked the romantics path previously and results had not been good. i was trying to do too much in hindsight. buy the rights beans, roast them the right way and then use them at the right time with the precisely right grind and profile of extraction. so many skills involved and i was using nice single origin coffees and wasting them as i learnt (the worst was that honey like Yemen one 5 years ago - wasting that was like spitting in a church).

Are you able to program the auto on/off time from the keypad? After reading and rereading the instructions, There is no option on my machine to do this. However it says it’s can be done in the user manual. I called La Marzocco and didn’t really get any help, other than use the app. I don’t want to use the app for various reasons. I’m really dreading speaking to anyone at La Marzocco, I usually get a passive aggressive woman who is working from home and doesn’t really know how to help other than email another person who will get back to you.

Does you budget cover the Rocket R91 ?
    You have heard of that...right?

There's also the Eagle One...uncertain atm if it really lives up to the pre release hype.
Also San Remo single grp version of the commercial multi grp Cafe Racer.
    GL with it.
    Pls report back your findings

Haven’t heard of it, but will take a look, Thanks caffeinator! I’ve had my heart set on the Decent for a few months and planned to buy in Feb once work bonuses got paid out, but as I’ve went to hit the trigger I came across Decent’s huge markups for Aus customers. It’s about 30% more expensive to land in Aus than anywhere else! So that’s a deal breaker for me on principle. We could get one delivered to NZ, fly over and pick it up and holiday for a week for what you’ll save in the mark up.

If you're looking at the Crem, you should add the VBM Domobar Super to your shortlist as well.

For the GS3 owners on this thread, what made you choose it over other machines with profiling abilities like the Decent or Crem one pressure profiling machine? I’m looking at all three at the moment and leaning to the decent despite not liking to look and sound of it, but would love to hear from those who made the leap into the GS3!
