ECM Technika or Profitec 600

Really sounds like a toss up as to whether you want dual boiler OR rotary pump. I have a Technika IV profi and hadn't experienced a rotary pump before it. I could never go back to a vibration pump. Maybe save the extra and go for a Pro 700 and get the best of both worlds?

If you can, compare them side by side. Get the feel if both of them.
While they are both built by the same company they are not the same. Some components are common.
Talk to a technician to see which one they prefer to work on and I think you will find your answer

You cannot go wrong with either of these brands. My two choices were the profitec pro 700, and the ECM synchronica. While very happy with my purchase of the pro 700 I now I wish I had gone with the ECM, just for the levers. So if that is your shortlist, I would go with the ECM for the levers alone.

what did you go with? I arrived at the same two machines as shortlist but haven't bought yet, thanks

I can't imagine paying that sort of money for a heat exchanger machine, and then having to screw around with flushing etc. Why not just pay a bit more and go one step up to the profitec pro 700, so you get the best of both worlds... Rotary pump and dual boiler. If you do ever have a chance to plumb it in you'll regret not being able to do so.
For the warm up time, get a smart WiFi power switch and program it to turn on before you wake up.

if youre plumbing it in then the rotary pump makes sense. If youre making only milk based drinks then the HX is great. If you want more control of brew water temp then the Dual boiler is better (and this is usually more important for straight espresso and long blacks). Sounds like the ECM will best suit you from what you write, if im interpreting you correctly.

ECM Technika or Profitec 600
Trying to figure out whats best for me.
My sunbeam has died and I've tried the repairs that dear Noidle has graciously shown throughout the forums, but I just can't justify replacing the PCB and other parts when I dont even know if it will fix it.
Hoping I can get a machine that I won't have to upgrade for a loooong time.
I've got a specialita grinder
My usage
1-2 large latte's a day for myself. I'm not super keen for long heat up times as my wake up time is inconsistent due to children, so I'm not sure how I would get the machine firing up at the right time for morning?
We have people over on weekends, and would be pumping several (6+) coffees back to back, so wan't something that could keep up with it.
Here's how I see the differences between the two machines and how they play out generally.
ECM Technika V Profi PID- Rotary Pump - benefits are quieter and longer lasting. but more expensive to replace. I can't see myself plumbing it at any point in the near future. I'd be very surprised if I had the opportunity to as we're renting.
- Heat Exchange - It takes a bit longer to heat up, which is a bit annoying, since I have unpredictable wakeup times. Also cooling flushes?
- Joystick steam levers - Whats the general opinion on these vs rotary?
- Metal Tubing - more durable?
Profitec Pro 600- Vibratory Pump - less life, but also cheaper to replace? Probs wont plumb anyway.
- Double Boiler - Better for pumping out coffees when we are having people over. Can play around with steam temps more easily as I learn to do latte art.
- Gauges lower - visibility?
- silicon tubing - a bit consumable
Any information and opinions are welcomed!
