  • Synchronika sometimes fails to pour upon lifting lever. Occaisionally stops mid-pour

I've got an issue with my ECM and hopefully someone can help me understand.

Sometimes when I lift the E61 level to pour a coffee, nothing happens. On a second attempt it usually works fine. On rare occasions it might even stop mid-pour.

Not plumbed in, but I keep the tank full. I've noticed the E61 cam is squeeky

I've had this issue... You might need to lube the switch and the lobe on the lever cam.

If you're too obsessed with cleaning (guilty) and you remove the grease from the lobe on the cam it'll squeak and sometimes the switch will not activate.

    Cheers

I had this intermittent issue also, the micro switch was not being pushed in far enough. The switch appeared to be seated correctly so stuck some tape to the back of the lever cam which is enough to press the switch in far enough now.

These microswitches are adjustable, no need for fancy work-arounds, accessed by taking the side panel off. While in there , check out the condition of the plastic tee... Maybe time for a group service if squeeking. Usually using freshly roasted coffee will stop the squeeking that sometimes happens after back-flushing removes the group lube

Glad to hear it's all pretty simple. I'll take it in for a service. I was a little worried it might be the computer.

Where is the microswitch? I assumed that the E61 is a purely mechanical mechanism rather than including electrical switches

Hard to say what is causing the fault without seeing it in person, the microswitch is the switch behind the brew lever, when you lift the lever it sends a signal to start the pump . Even if it's failing, it's a $30 part
