Turns out the San Remo Cafe Racer valves are for 1/4 pipe connection to boiler.

Thanks Don. I've have tried Boema already, and my experience was the same as previously - they have no interest in helping. I was referred to one of the employees who'd been with them a long time but he was unresponsive unfortunately. I can understand it - there is nothing in it for them long term. Yes, I hadn't realised that the main standards for valves were 1/4 and 3/8 - I definitely need something 3/8 to fit with the frame and front panel of the machine, and to keep the 10mm pipework.Originally posted by JMcCee View PostTim, I'm still looking for the wands that came with that machine but It's not looking promising. I would at least look for replacements that can use those original gutsy looking rotary knobs rather than the 'dainty' option.. Did you try Bo-ema? As one of the the valves is not original I guess another valve set with a 3/8 (?) primary thread would give you plenty of options.
My main objective is functionality, rather than keeping it original - but I don't want parts to look completely out of place either.

Chrome steam valve and wand recommendations
I'm looking for recommendations for new steam valves and wands I could possibly fit to a 1960's Bo-ema lever machine I'll soon be rebuilding.
I'd like the valves to be chrome, as they are fully exposed - see original set up (sans wands) below.
I've identified a couple of options. Below is the set up on San Remo Cafe Racer machines. This is currently the option I am most attracted to - I think will 'fit' nicely with the Boema machine. I have a quote in hand for these - close to $500 per valve/wand - so definitely not a cheap option - and am certainly keen to see if there are more wallet friendly options.
Another option is Bezzera flip locks which seem to be about $100 + the wand (can't find price) - as used on their prosumer coffee machines. I'm thinking these might be a little 'dainty' for the 2 group Boema though.
Can anyone recommend other options? Doesn't have to be a joystick style. I'd be most grateful for any advice/tips.
