We are currently considering upgrading from an Isomac Tea that we purchased in 2009. We live in Perth with all of the water issues that brings. We only use filtered water and my husband is meticulous with descaling and cleaning but nonetheless we are now on to our second cactus boiler and other parts need replacing also. I'm a bit reluctant to dump another $1300 into a 12 year old machine.
We've just built and while we have a coffee "station" area with its own sink and recessed/fairly high overhead cabinetry we don't have a set up for plumbing it in. We have a whole house water filter for the new house but I am open to running separate/additional filtration/softening if that will improve the life.
The Isomac Pro PID (hx) appears to have a rotary pump and a copper boiler (which I'm told offers some advantages in Perth) but when it comes to online reviews....crickets. I'm wondering if there's a reason for that, and I am particularly interested in how it stands up reliability wise compared to ECM/Profitec and others in this price range.
We have a mazzer mini-E grinder that is still doing the job.
Can anyone offer any insights into any of these machines or any others in the approx $3-4k mark)? I don't really have a massive amount of cash to splash at this point but cost per use is tiny so I want to do it properly. Thank you
