Hi Team,
I'm after a little advice about using my coffee machine.
I recently upgraded from an ISOMAC mondiale to an ECM technika V profi, which have been wonderful.
It has a flow controller fitted which I am just having a little hard time getting my head around. Perhaps a coffee snobber might be able to help with.
Essentially it doesn't to matter how "open or closed" I have the flow control it always goes straight to 9 bar.... If I run the group head with no handle attached I can see a obvious reduction in flow as I close down the flow controller, but it certainly doesn't shut it off completely.
The best I am able to achieve is stalling the pressure for about 2 seconds in the first 4 seconds by starting the shot with the flow controller (half turn open) then once I see the pressure engage I turn the flow controller (fully closed). This give me 3-5 seconds of pressure between 3-6 bar before the head equalises with the pump at 9 bar even with the flow control fully closed.
Overall this doesn't seem like much of a difference from having the flow controller fully open from the beginning of the shot (getting to 9 bar in 2-3 seconds). Am I doing something incorrectly?
For reference my grind seams dialled similarly to when using my Isomac. I'm using 15g VST basket dosed to 17.3g & extracting 25ml in 30 seconds.
Thank you in advance.
